got the new tails working
So after messing around with the wiring I finally got the lights to work properly. I have no idea what was wrong with them, but i still notified fishcakes and am going to have a replacement set issued just in case. I dont want to run into problems later down the road.
Now for the lights, I think they look awesome! I love the 2 black strips for the signal and reverse. Overall they really make the rear of the car stick out, eyecatching!

The mod itself is not hard, its supposed to be plug and play. You just pop out the 2 round plastic pieces that hold the trunk liner around the tail light area. That gives you enough room to hold it back and then remove the 3 nuts that hold the tail light in place. theres 2 towards the top and one at the bottom.
then you just remove the plug from the stock tail, attach it to the new tail and mount it back on the car. my situation was prolonged due to the wacky wiring on the lights themselves. If I didnt have to mess around with that, the entire install would have taken me about 30 minutes i would say. the end result is well worth it too!
