Camshaft Solenoid Recall for W221
I took my 2007 w221 in for an oil change last week and they said there is now a camshaft solenoid recall for the w221. Sounds like the same issue across several C & E classes which had already been recalled, but can't be sure.
Sure enough when they went to add the pigtail that prevents oil from dripping into the O2 sensor, they found that the the wiring harness was already saturated and needed to be replaced. ~$1200 repair, but covered under warranty.
I dont have the recall campaign#, but it was issued on 9/6/2012.
Hope this is helpful to others.
Thanks,
Vinay

There is no recall campaign number on my receipt, however, I suggest you call your dealer with your cars serial number and ask about the camshaft solenoid recall. Sorry I cannot offer more.

i had a service scheduled for tomorrow morning cancelled after she said the recall isn't for the s550, never understood why they put less knowledgeable women in the service area even if they are reading information from a database. Basically it is fully covered and takes less than 2 hours for the replacement solenoid. I will give it another shot tomorrow with my MB

MBWorld Fanatic!
I believe he's out for next week because that's what he told me when I made the appointment to bring my car in. This is the the dealership # (617) 666-4100. Hope that help.

I replaced 3 camshaft solenoids last weekend. Costed me $25.00 a piece. Could not get to the 4th one without moving the engine - and that was beyond what I sought to do.
i kept seeing check engine indicator and the star dss pointed me to this solenoid. I dont see the messages anymore and hoping the 4th one (that I could not replace) will not act up anytime soon.

just to chime in the reason why my dealer was saying there is no avail recall for my car is because the previous owner already had them replaced we checked service records. Maybe ask your advisor to look into it
