Thought this day would never come.....
As Michelle Obama once said..."For the first time in my adult life..........."
I ordered a 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S fully loaded and I will not be a Mercedes S Class owner. Deposit Made July 15. Figure another month.
I will still be around the forum as I met a lot of really nice folks here and many I call friends on here, and in person!
Sapphire Blue Exterior
Bordeaux / Black Leather Interior
All the goodies! I'll post pics of the actual car when it arrives!

wow, what a color! that looks good Chuckie you're gonna love it...the amount of options you can choose on a Porsche is astounding isn't it? How long did it take you to configure yours?

very nice! congrats!
I recently drove a Turbo S in same exterior color, beautiful car and fun to drive, not so good DD for me as I'm on the freeways 90% of the time, if I lived in the right area I'd probably get one as a weekend car

A month. So many options - nothing is standard. Sunroof, Leather interior, etc. Nothing is standard.
Base Price for a 4S is $110k. Mine is $140k and the options are not like for my own vanity.
Automatic PDK Transmission is $3200. Sunroof is $2000. Leather in Red/Black interior is $4800. More than $10k right there. UNREAL...

Wow, nice! Sad to see you leave the MB family; you'll love your new car though.
Haven't driven the new turbo engines, but how do they compare to the previous NA s and 4s model?
Btw, when you say it's fully loaded, did you get every leather option like the leather clad steering column, leather air vents, etc? Burmester?

Congrats- you are going to love it. Come back and tell us what you think.
And regarding the fully loaded- I thought once you checked every option box Porsche opens a new secret level of all new options just to mess with your head.

WOW, so gorgeous. Love the colors and the combo.
Congrats on your purchase.
You are absolutely going to love this car, and you are really going to have fun driving it. I have looked at these cars for years and never pulled the trigger.
I am glad you did and very happy for you!
I tried building one and you are so right about the options and how to configure the car. So many choices but I am sure you had fun and with your superior taste in fashion, I know this car will be perfect in every detail.
Again, congrats and can't wait to see the pictures!

The color combination is GREAT and very GUTSY! Most folks only day dream about ordering a car like this, but end up with a silver car with black interior. Your car will be absolutely amazing. Can't wait to see photos of the actual car.

Thanks everybody! I will most definitely upload some pictures. Figure 2 - 4 more weeks. I put the deposit down July 15 and was told 6 to 8 weeks from that time since the allotment was on a car that just about scheduled to be built when a customer abruptly canceled their order. So instead of going to an Sept / October build, it was done sooner.
Curious to see how rear wheel steering makes the drive more precise. And the kid in me wants to try Launch Control after the break in period.

I've had my share of fun when I got my Aston Martin Vanquish S but I must say, I am thinking about dumping the S for a "sports" type car ever since my wife got the BMW 7 Individual. We don't need two boats so I am really trying to figure out what I want next.

Chucky: I would be interested to know what it was that brought you to your decision to go with the Porsche. As you know, the change from the W222 to the Carrera will be dramatic. Did you consider a new SL? A Bentley Continental? An Audi R8? What was it about the Porsche that you just couldn't resist? Just curious.

That's great looking! My father has the individual as you know - but no piping like that. Really nice! Did you order that or it was available? Superb.

Excellent question. I'm curious as well.
Porsche made a commercial several years back which 100% sums it up.

Honestly - sometimes it just boils down to what I've wanted since I was 7 years old. I didn't even look at the new SL, Continental, R8, i8, etc

OR, what I expected to see, was as the kid stepped out of the car, he became a young man, the salesman had aged, the car was a newer model and the young man says I'll take it."
In 1973, I ordered a new 911T Targa from Vasek Polak Porsche in Hermosa Beach, CA. It was to be Sepia Brown with Cork (saddle tan) interior. But that year, the dollar had three major tumbles against the D-Mark and the car went from around $7,000, to $7,800.00, to $8,400.00 and then to $9,300.00 before it ever arrived. I was stretching at $7K, so I had to cancel the order and never got a new Porsche until 1989. My last one was a 2009 Carrera coupe with a six speed manual. It was fun, but my 2004 SL500 sat in the garage next to it and I drove the SL more, so I sent the Carrera down the road. Currently I am lusting after a new Targa, but not sure that's what I want yet.

I've found - with all the car makers - Porsche always seems to tug at your heart. Not really sure why - and I'm not the most emotional of guys - but every time I watch one of their commercials - I can't explain it - it just goes right for my heart.
This one is called Class Reunion. Watch it - and you'll all remember your friends as kids - some long gone - some you still keep in touch with - your favorite teacher - etc.
Enjoy! Let me know your thoughts.

Fantastic commercial! I would have liked it to have gone full circle, as in either having the dealership look vintage, with, say a '73 911 and a younger salesman and then the kid coming back as a young man, to the modern dealership, with the well worn business card, and buying the current car, from the same but aged salesman.

I always wanted a 911 Turbo (s) but when I was a kid - the car was $75k. Now its $175K. With options, it runs about a million. lol
