2006 R500
the fronts are 2 piston, the rear are single piston. these are still a floating caliper and the calipers themselves are not much larger than the stock calipers. the rotors are a bit bigger than the stock brakes and mainly they are designed for some extra stopping power and less fade than the stock brakes. these use a larger stiffer caliper mounting bracket and a larger rotor with more surface area, but don't expect it to perform like a 6 pot or 8 pot fixed caliper mount big brake, there just a heavier duty version of the stock brakes, not really a big brake setup. the 2013 & up ml63 is a true big brake setup but I don't know that they'd actually bolt on to our models

Newbie here, just want to say, I have a R320 and I love it, I also SERIOUSLY love what you're doing to your R500! I would love to do this to mine, however, not till it's my car.. Still, awesome work my friend, truly inspiring!

Hi, just discovered your post as I recently bought a R500 5.5 l
Well, just to tell I haven't got 1% of your genius and creativness, really impressive!
GLKs look good, I'm confident yours is going to become exceptional.

Chris, You're inspiring me to get an R instead of a GL and spend the difference on updating. Hows the project coming by now?
BTW I had issues with Asanti (Lexani is same company) too. Chrome peeling and pitting due to thin chroming at manufacture. They didn't give a rip. Very sad.
I had to strip and re-chrome the centers and replace all the outer barrels, cha ching. Luckily I found a place in Cali that makes the barrels so I didn't have to give them another dime. I would never buy this brand again.

Wooden steering wheel
Hi Chris,
Do you know where I could possibly find a wooden steering wheel for my R500? I searched on websites here in Switzerland but couldn't find any.
By the way, is the swapping a difficult task, or can it be managed any dummy like me?

I just stumbled in to this thread. How exactly did you get the new command unit to work? Were all the parts available or did you have to fabricate the harness? Did the stock backup camera work or did you have to replace it?
I am quite interested as I would love to switch mine to the newer unit. I have a 2007 R63.
Thank you in advance.
