'An Even More Harsher Ride'
'Seasons Greetings, M-B'ers.'
Yup. Harsh ride in the rear of the '96 S500 Coupe'. Bought it about 10 years ago with 37,000 miles on it. Nearly pristine condition. A Palm Springs Golf Cart. A Seattle attorney just traded it in and wrote a check for $285,000.00 for a new Bentley. Still a very nice looking modern car. Anyway, I thought it needed rear shocks from the day we bought it. Turned out it was one or two spheres. New ones didn't do dog doo-doo.. 70,000 miles later it still needs rear shocks. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

The suspension is the same on my '97 S500, the rear suspension remained the same for the life of the W140. Here is another link discussing the self-leveling struts on the S500 and S600.
