560 SEC mods
Hi, I am new to this side of the forum as I have just sold my modded W211 E55 AMG and I am looking at buying a 1991 560 SEC as a weekend 'go faster' project. I was wondering what type of mods would yield the best results. I was thinking along the lines of custom headers with a big free flow exhaust (no cats or resonator) and cold air induction with aftermarket filters to get things started. Can these motors be dyno tuned for more HP? Would changing to bigger injectors make any difference? I am also thinking of changing to coil over suspension as the 560 had a characteristic mushy ride. Besides supercharging the motor, is there any other mod that produces decent results? I have heard of more aggressive cams, but I would like to leave the motor internals alone for now.

I would lower compression, qand turbo charge. The cheapest way is a 150 hp wet shot.

I was thinking along the lines of eventually turbo charging, but it might be a tad on the pricey side to put it mildly. The other problem with turbo charging is how the gearbox will handle all added HP. The thought of using nitrous puts a smile on my face, but I think water/meth injection might be a safer bet on these older engines.

as long as you stay on the rich side doing a wet shot, you will be okay.Yes look into beefing up tranny, you may be able to add a extra clutch ,and plate.

Hey, man. Unfortunately, this forum seems to have died down the last couple of years. Try Benzworld. That has alot of the same people as here that just have seem to have forgotten about this but ten to participate there alot more. Great forum there.
