CAr sitting for awhile and now problems.
Hi, I am desperate. First I have a W126 300SEL with very low mileage. The car has sat for three years and not driven. I had it stored at a friends and when I went to pick up he had it running and sitting outside. Well it wasn't long and no power at all. Fuel gauge stopped working. After inspection the gas was of course full of red rust, a mess. I put a new filter, pump, blew lines out but still the same. The car starts right up and idles great but no power. I have over 100 lbs pressure at distributor. I just need to know where to next. I cleaned the little filter in the F Dist. Cleaned tank, Is it possible the distributor is the culprit? Injectors? Would the gas with the crud make it that far? I am in rural Nova Scotia and a long way from a dealer or indie. Not that I could afford a dealer but I am very handy with these cars but this one has me stumped. I have also changed Distributor Cap, Rotor, Wires and Plugs to be sure. The car did work great for a couple weeks before this started. If I leave it sit for a few weeks it will run pretty good for a short while but will gradually lose power. It seems almost certainly starved of fuel. I had an injector out and hooked it to the fuel distributor line but it does not spray. not sure if it will out of the car like that. I have read that maybe a "cold start injector" or maybe a "differential Pressure warm up valve" (not sure this car has that) Where would I find the cold start injector on this car? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated
