1990 500SL / 1989 560 SEC
Question Can someone please tell me about the 560 SEC!??

I can'nt seem to find any info of this car on the internet anywhere. I'm i nthe middle of purchasing one that I think may have been imported from Germany.

It's an 86 560 SEC AMG.

Beautiful car! DIRT CHEAP! GREAT SHAPE and runs wicked! AWSOME POWER!

I hear the US version put out like 220+ HP, but the Euro was around 300! I've driven this car and it sure as hell feels alot more like it's getting pushed by 300 than 220. Thats for sure!

Can anyone tell me the weight and the horsepower of the US/Euro 560 SEC AMG's???

Please and Thank you!

You say its a 560SEC AMG... Does it have the AMG tuned motor? You can look at the motor's valve/cam covers. They may be stamped with "AMG." What color is the car? How high does the speedometer go? The answers to these questions will help you find some more info about the car.

The car is labeled all over with AMG including the wheels, but i haven't checked out the engine bay for AMG. The speedometer shows 260KM. It's an 86 car. Just GORGEOUS! Getting an INSANE deal. I'm in Canada and I think the tiny dealership that has it has no idea what kind of car they have. They are more of a daily driver type of used car dealer. They have had the car for 10 days. The car rips. I know a 300BHP car when I drive one and it goes good. I have a TT Stealth that runs high 13's stock to compare it to and it's not as fast, but probably PRETTY close. The big thing I'm wondering is if the car is actually from Germany...

The entire dash is in German. The entire car is labeled with German word. Even the radio is an aftermarket Nakamichi CD player tha tonly get's up from 70.? to 89.9 on the FM dial which is European radio stations, right? There is not a single WORD of english on the car. The car is also complete with a AMG steering wheel.

The dealer has no idea about the car. I also have a car tuner shop professionalising in Turbo engineering which is where I had it checked out today. The car is IN GREAT SHAPE!. I cant seem to find any info on this car. 560sec.com is now closed down and i have no idea where else I can get some info. Thank god for this site.

Had the car completely checked out and it is getting sold for $1000's less than a regular 560 SEC and i haven't even made an offer yet. The car is in IMPECCABLE condition. Took it out for a test drive today and showed a brand new GT Stang what was up. Pulled him pretty good and he was MAJOR surprised!

The tire combo might also help Identify the car. It has AMG wheels, front is 215/?? 17 and the back is 255/40 17. Has meats on the back of this thing! LOOKS WICKED! Complete with a spoiler and all. The car is PEARL WHITE! i'm in love with this and this will make a great gift for my pops! Have no problem at all roasting the tires off the line just by gunning the gas. I probably had done an 80 foot peely fishtail before the meats grabbed.

Is there any way that I can tel if the car IS in fact the REAL EURO AMG???? It sure LOOKS like it and drives liek a beast!

Well, the speedo is a normal 560 speedo. I have a true 560SEC AMG and the speedo goes to 300km/h. But that doesn't totally scratch it from being AMG. AMG did tune the motors without using the 4 cam heads. At most, the car puts out 331bhp if it doesn't have the big heads stamped with AMG. Does the exhaust look stock or are the tips chrome with AMG on them? Do the front seats have controls located on the actual seat (Recaros) or does it have factory interior? Again, that doesn't count it out but is a good way to tell if its true AMG. Take a look at 500sec.com for tons of articles about W126 coupes in general. Also mbcoupes.com is a valuable site for W126 coupe owners. Try to get a look at the engine next time and take a close look at the valve/cam covers for anything with AMG on it.

That's not the same SEC. The one I am looking at has 154,000 KM. It's an 86 and with tinted windows. Just as clean though. The asking price is $9900 CANADIAN! HAHA! ANd i haven't even made an offer and they even told me that that price is TOTALLY negotiable!

Is this car from Germany though???? The exhaust is an AMG exhaust.

Mine is EXACTLY the same as the one in the other thread! I wanna know if the car is from Germany though. EVERYTHING is writeen in German. From the FAN controls to all the writing on the car. Nothing is in english. I can't even fit the Square plates because the brackets only fit the Euro style plates. How do I tell if this car is from Germany???? The dealer has no clue abotu the car. We've checked the car out top and bottom, not a SPEC of rust! I'm BUYING this today. I just want to identify it!

I'm sure the car is from Germany. All W126 coupes were built in Germany and if yours has all German instrumentation, it is infact a German or Euro version. 90% of full AMG cars had the chrome painted over. The chrome you are referring to is on every 560SEC to leave the factory, except the fender chrome, which is purely a taste thing, not mine in particular. AMG usually paints over the chrome to give it the monochromatic look. Sounds like a nice car though, I thought for sure it was the one the other Canadian member posted. Seeing pictures of that one and him posting the specs makes that one a true 6.0 32v AMG.
