First Mercedes Benz. 2005 S 500 with Sport Package
Hey, I've been a fan of Mercedes Benz for decades and bought my first one last year. It's a 2005 S500. It had 44,236 miles when I first started driving it and is due for a Maintenance A. Is that simply an oil and lube and what can I expect to pay. Thanks Cedric. I'll try to post pictures. It's black with charcoal leather. By the way, drivers are so nice to me when I drive this car.

You don't get in and out of an MD dealership for under $500.00.
The A check includes various inspections.
Read the Operator's Manual, it's in there.

Hello Cedric and welcome to the forum.
I agree with Kraut56. The basic "Service A" in my area cost around $300. However, each time I took my car in for the service they would always come up with something "extra". For instance I was told I needed my air filters replaced because "they were dirty". Mind you I use K&N filters so they have this reddish tint to them and they had just been purchased.
Bottom line, if a person is any kind of DIYer you can do just about all of the "Service A" stuff yourself. With the exception of the oil change just about everything else is just a bunch of visual checks. You can also reset the service reminder light yourself.

Oh yeah, you can bet during those visual inspections there will be lots of recommendations that come with a hefty price tag. . The only real advantage to taking it to a dealer is that they will be able to check the vehicle for recalls.

I got my oil and filter replaced, along with various inspections and recommendations for $76.81. It was recommended that I replace the front tires, which I knew. I have new front and rear tires ordered. Thanks for all your help.
