04 W220 Pre-Safe malfunction while driving

I looked into the forums for this but did not see what I might be able to do besides a reset (steering wheel, accel pedal).
here's what happened, wife is driving and did a lane change, the pre safe activated and malfunction. the trans will not down or upshift, accelerator will not increase engine speed. she pulled over called me and we turned off the car and restarted after about a minute. car was fine. this happened once more with her and again with me, all while driving normally. I am at a lose for what I can/need to do to resolve the issue.

I found out that if you put anything light weight like a phone charging on the passenger seat. It will throw error codes. Why? I have no idea. But every time i put a phone/power bank that is plugged in and charging, it will throw a malfunction code guaranteed. Backpacks doesn't throw codes. I have tried a cardboard box, and nothing.

I don't think that the OP is having this problem. The OP is having an issue where his vehicle's PRE-SAFE system is acting up or out (how ever you want to look at it). This has nothing to do with the passenger seat occupancy sensor.

Turbonos7, you are correct. When it malfunctions, the vehicle will not accelerate, is non responsive to manual transmission inputs and there is no auto trans response.

HAve you tried turning the key to position 2 just before starting, then with the key in that position hold the gas pedal all the way down to the floor for about 10-15 seconds. Then while still holding the gas pedal down turn the car off. Now start the car normally and see if it resets.
