Question Brake light stay on.

My 2001 S500 brake lights come on as soon when I start on the engine and will not extinguish till I turn off the ignition. The Brake light is on inside instrument cluster . I checked the brake fluid level and its full, the Emergency brake is released . I noticed it happened right after I jumped the car with a portable jumper box? Does any one any ideas, and where can I get a diagram of all the fuse and relay locations ?

The only one i have is for the dashboard as that was the issues he was having. So thats the only thing i attempted to find, other than what i already posted.

Sorry i wish i had more but maybe someone else can chime in if they have it.

I just did a quick search on google and came up on this http://www.justanswer.com/mercedes/7...-turn-off.html
not sure if it will be helpful but its a similar issue.

Have you checked your brake light switch? Here is a you tube video from a ML but the S-Class might be in the same general area.

We are posting to this old thread in hopes of helping those who may be searching for an answer. We see this all the time on W215/W220 models - Brake lamps are on anytime the key is in position '2' - In STAR/Xentry, it's easy to check the operational status of the brake lamp switch. It is also easy to check the signal status of the Rear SAM. In almost every case, we replace the ESP/PML/BAS control unit and the problem is solved. Leave the key on for 15 minutes. The ESP/PML/BAs control unit will be hot to the touch with this type of failure...
