AIRMATIC Question

Hello MBW Family,
Is it a malfunction present when AIRMATIC lowers the rear suspension in cold weather only?

It seems to begin raising then goes back to the message saying car is too low. The waiting time isn't normally very long. Do you have any suggestions?

I have the same issue during the winter, I haven't looked into it too much but from what ive been reading it sounds like its a little moisture in the valves that keep it slightly open which results in a slow leak while its sitting. I haven't paid it any mind over the past two years and have not had any issues.

You need to change the dessicant in the airmatic pump so that moisture doesn't get in the valves

vincheung, are you saying that it only happens in low/cold temps?

tusabes, the link you attached is for the front suspension. Is the same technique required for the rear as well?

Yes, I typically only notice the overnight drop on cold days. During the summer, there will be a handful of times where it is low. Again, personally, I haven't paid it any attention as the airmatic pump hasn't been running non stop to the point of burnout. Its safe to assume that its the desiccant that needs replacing as laid out in a link in one of the above comments but I will wait until things warm up and I have a little more time to get to it. Forgot to mention, sometimes for me its just the rear that drops, and other times its all 4 corners.

Warranty Repair

Who said I can't have a 2016 GL550 in 2011...

Same issue on my 2011 GL450 and they replaced the Pneumatic Springs, Seal Holders and both right and left level sensor link rods. Now standing tall with no leaks in cold weather. Done under warranty, hope this helps.
