Starting.. after a CPS.

Hey guys I have an 06 S55 with 127k and I noticed it would turn over a lot once in a while before starting or I would go to start it and it would click and then stop and I'd have to press the start button again to turn it off and then again to start it which it would then do normal. I assumed it could be a crank positioning sensor and replaced it with a brand new Bosch but it's still doing the same thing. Does anyone have any other ideas to try? I was wondering if replacing the cam positioning sensor would be a wise choice before I did it because it's a good bit more money. Any other ideas? Thanks guys!

Does the problem takes place when the engine hot or cold? The camshaft position sensor fixed my S430 starting issue. I also saw oil in the harness when I removed it.

It does do it when it's warm.. I guess I'll spend the money and try the cam sensor thanks! If anyone else has any other ideas I'd appreciate it!

If warm and not cold then you should go with the camshaft. That fixed my issue.

Thanks but I'm thinking those are an off brand maybe and I would rather stay with oem parts

Hey guys I just ordered a Bosch cam sensor for $70 but this morning when I started it up to drop it off to get the front end rebuilt it was completely cold and it turned over a long time before starting and also it idles rough when cold.. I'm having my tech check it out while doing the front end he was thinking maybe a vacuum leak or an air sensor.. is it very hard to change the cam sensor? Might as well do it as good measure.

I didn't have issues with cold start. Camshaft position sensor is in front of the engine and should take less than 5min to replace. One screw to remove then disconnect the harness.
