I prefer the current paddle, gentle and beautiful design.

Thank you for your advice.

best write up ever

best write up ever
i don't need it because mine is a 2010 but i appreciate all the time and effort you put in for the write up. we need more people like you who has the expertise to do the mod and willingness to take the time to share it with our small community.

what did you do to the black steering wheel? it matches the wood they used for hybrid. eucalyptus i think. i have been looking for one in awhile now. mine did not come with wood steering wheel.

Hey, I tried everything exactly as per pictures in the first phase with my 2010 steering wheel and paddles but nothing works at all.

Anyone else tried this and got stuck?

Hi Prash , Do not worry, all things will be okay. I think you forgot a very important point, Do you use control unit old or new (look at the picture)? You must use the 07 control unit in the 2010 steering wheel Then everything will work correctly.

Please don't hesitate to tell me anything you need.

Good luck

Hi Yousef, yes i did not use the 07 control unit.

So I have done that and now the steering wheel works great except the 2 telephone buttons which is no response at all but not sure if they work without a telephone connected.

I will do the LED lighting another time when insulated wire arrives. Switches were a nightmare but sorted eventually. Phew!!!

Many thanks again.

Would be nice if someone can make a adapter or some kind of plug and play cable from a 6 pin to a 4 pin connection.

Just wanted to share my setup how i did it. Its a very tedious process took me 5-6 hours per switch.

Everything else i did as our inspired member except soldering led lights took different route i actually unsolder them from new switch and solder them in original and ran magnet wire, used mini heat gun for soldering i also swapped resistors for them that are located opposite side of buttons. Securing switches inside air bag differently.

Hey guys,

I am dealing with the same thing at the moment.
So I need to install my old (pre-facelift) steering wheel control unit into new steering wheel, but what about the airbag itself? Are they different? Can I use my old /pre-facelift airbag inside the new steering wheel?

Thankx!

No! Just replace the steering column stalk to a used 2010 or newer and all works.

Mr. Hamid,
I have an S550, 2012. None of the buttons work or light up. Is there a fuse I can check?

Hey I know this is an old thread but I'm trying to do the same thing. I have a 2007 S600 and trying to upgrade to a 2010 S600's wheel and airbag. I also have the 2010 column stalk as well. I can see the pics were reuploaded but there doesn't seem to be a description of what it is that needs to be done to actually make everything work. Any help? Thanks guys.
