MB road hazard response
Did MB recently change their policy on servicing (towing, etc.) cars that stopped on the road? It used to be unlimited mileage, but I thought I heard that policy has changed recently?

The policy changed for vehicles purchased starting in 2011--
Mercedes-Benz Roadside Assistance will offer the following complimentary services for eligible vehicles:
· Sign & Drive
- Replace a flat tire with a spare
- Jump start
- Small amount of fuel, should the vehicle run out
· Towing to the nearest authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership
Roadside assistance available under the following conditions:
· Is under any Mercedes-Benz warranty (New Vehicle Limited Warranty, Extended Limited Warranty, Certified Pre-owned Warranty)
· Is our of warranty, and is regularly serviced at an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership (a single transaction of at least $100 in the 18 months prior to the Roadside call)
· Was purchased directly from an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership prior to January 4, 2011 and you still own the vehicle.

Yeah, to the guy who said he regretted buying his 7 series after finding out MB serves all of their cars no matter how old he can no longer regret.. MB has cheaped out on their car owners it seems.. unless you've spent atleast $100 at a MB dealer in 18 months, which I guess is pretty much everyone.. So I guess if you go buy that run down 75 MB on Craigslist for $500 and go get the oil changed at the dealer you could still get help??

Roadside Assistance will be offered on vehicles which have received at least $100.00 in customer pay services at an Authorized Mercedes-Benz Dealer prior to 1/1/2014, provided that the request for Roadside Assistance is made within 18 months of said services
In the best case scenario, complimentary roadside assistance will no longer be available for vehicles out of warranty that were not purchased directly from a dealer prior to 2011 after 7/1/2015 since the $100 in customer service must have been performed prior to 1/1/2014 which would expire 18 months after that.
Having on older car serviced at a dealer today will NOT qualify for complimentary roadside assistance. The only out of warranty vehicles that qualify are those purchased at a dealer prior to 2011.
I used the service when my battery failed and I was at a shopping center. They came out at no cost and jump started my car. They also had new batteries with them and I purchased one at the same price as at the dealer. It is almost impossible to purchase the starter battery for pre-facelift vehicles anywhere but at a dealer.
They also have reduced the level of service that they provide. Many years ago, I had a 1985 500SEC which would not start. The roadside technician quickly diagnosed the problem and determined it was a failed fuel pump relay. He had a replacement with him. Within 12 minutes of his arrival, the car was fixed. I was charged the standard shop labor rate of 0.2 hours for the repair plus the normal dealer price for the fuel pump relay even though it occurred late on a Saturday night and my vehicle was out of warranty. There was no charge for his travel time no overtime charges for service outside the normal work hours. He also had various ignition modules with him. If I had a similar failure today, my vehicle would have to be towed to a dealer and would not be repaired until the following Monday.
