My S600

My S600
Well, in line with my post last week, I got my car back from the Dealer, and it's perfect again. I am going to take the excellent advice from the longtime regulars here and sell my beloved S600. Most was explained in my post last week. I just spent a ton of money on all the major things that happen to mature S600's. I had a coolant leak from one of the turbos and since the engine needed to be removed to get this work done, I had every line, seal and fitting done on the engine. I had both engine mounts and transmission mount replaced. Last year I had BOTH Coil Packs replaced along with all new Plugs (24), and a bunch of other things. The car is Perfect! I also just put 4 brand new tires on her!
All work was and has been done at San Diego Mercedes. Car has 144K mileage. I have all records and receipts. I want 20K. I am going to lease a new one. I will never drive anything else. Body and paint are exceptional for a 2007. Both bumpers have normal wear for a Mercedes of this age. Which is better than any other make. This will be a great Mercedes for the right person.
A couple of pics I just took today....

It looks fantastic for an 07, but w 144k I cant see that car bringing over 10k no matter what was done to it. I would have let it be and traded the car towards your lease.

Unfortunately the repairs beyond getting it running added no real value. The extra stuff might tip a buyer your way vs a comparably priced S600 but it's still only worth whatever it was worth before the work. I guess list it at $20k and see what happens, but I'm thinking the value is closer to $12k.

Since you've sunk so much money into the car to make it right, I think you should just drive and enjoy it for a couple more years. The car and the work are all paid for, so why not just keep it a little while longer? I don't think you'd get anywhere near $20k with those miles....probably more like low-mid teens. At your current miles, a couple more years and 20-30k more miles really aren't going to drop the value much further from what it currently is.

That's a very nice looking car , it's W221 afterall
It just needs cosmetic upgrades or facelifts but if you like it this way that's OK too

I had those same ugly *** chrome 18" wheels come on my S600 too. Now they are relegated to snow tire duty. It always pains me to put those ugly wheels back on my car come late November. But I always have something to look forward to in the spring when my 20" AMG knock-offs go back on.

Depends on the weather
S600....Best.Car.Ever.
Oh yeah....Sorry, 20k with those miles is a no go unless someone buys it just to say they have an S600 and don't care about the miles. I got mine for almost that price with 1/4 of the miles...but that car was a unicorn...which I sadly regret selling. :-(

I agree with others to keep it if you still enjoy it. Otherwise, sell it for what you can get with the mileage and enjoy the next model. Keep us posted, Good luck!
