Mercedes Benz S550
Someone with a S550 in South Florida?
Hello everyone,
I am a new owner since the last two months of a beautiful 2010 S550 with 65k miles on it.
I used to drive a 2012 Ford Fusion before so this is a real change!
I love the S550 the only issues I have are:
- front windows squeaking noise on both side, I have been able to resolve this by spraying Teflon spay on the windows rubber, but I realize that I need to do this every 2 weeks otherwise the noise is coming back :-( disappointing for such an expensive car.
- I find the air suspension very hard compared to my Fusion and this was really not expected neither, my fusion was filtering more the irregularity of the road vs the S550.
And this is the reason of my post, is there someone in this forum who lives in South Florida (Miami) and has a S550, I would like to be able to compare to see if it is not an issue with my car. Please PM me if you live in South Florida
Thanks !!!

My Fusion was more comfortable when it comes to filter irregularity of the pavement, here my S550 is very hard...and S550's reputation is for being very soft... so I would love to try another S550 if there is not an issue with mine...

Did you try to filter the irregularities of the pavement when you took the S550 on the test drive before you bought it? I'm trying to understand why you would buy the S if it rode worse than your Ford Fusion.

I got a new Fusion (2016) as a work vehicle and I hated it so much I opted for a 2016 full size Chevy Van. I drive that like I stole it.
There is no way in hell the Fusion is a softer ride.
Maybe tires are bad but I had the same setup of rims and tires.
I live in West Palm if your ever up this way

I actually only tried the car for 15 min before buying it; the tire pressure was set at 38 so I though this was the issue. I bought the car and set the pressure at 33 but I still feel it hard.
I am often in Boca Raton, do you live far from Boca? I don't mind driving up to West Palm... Do you still have your S550?

Is the car AirMatic or ABC suspension? ABC is rare but I've seen 221s with it. An AirMatic car should float down the road in perfect isolation. 19" is a modest sized wheel.

Anyway, why not just go to a MB dealer and test drive a pre owned w221.

Just go to the nearest dental office - you are bound to see a couple S550s in the parking lot. Just ask any dentist you see to swap keys for 30 min.

I bet it's an ABC car. Mine is an ABC car, and it rides noticeably stiffer than any of the Airmatic cars that I have been in regardless of the wheel setup. I thought about trading it, but it does better on the autobahn at higher speeds than the Airmatic (no bounce at all)
If it turns out to ABC, trade it before one of those struts go bad. You do not want that bill...
