Interior light going out too quickly?
Hi all,
After unlocking the car and opening a door, the interior light is supposed to stay on for a while, so that you can see when getting into the car.
However, on mine it goes out after maybe 2-3 seconds.
The door switch and the light itself seem to be working fine, just the timer isn't.
In my dash this option is set to 60 seconds.
Any idea where do I start diagnosing this problem please? Is there some sort of timer relay that controls this?
This is a pre-facelift 2007 W221 S500.
Thanks.

Sorry I mean that the lights go out after 2-3 seconds without even closing the door.
So they are not working properly.
I didn't know the setting is for after turning off the car though. Thanks for the tip.

It is the problem with battery. I had exactly the same issue. You schould try to charge battery by external charger, it should help fore some time. After battery replacement my problem is gone.

Maybe it was coincidence in my car, or reset due to few minutes without both batteries. I remember that the issue occured only when engine was off and disappeared when external charger was connected. What is the voltage shown in "hidden menu" in your car when the engine is off?

After 24 hours of charging, it's fixed! Thank you very much Tomino!
I guess short trips and cold weather and every heater on full blast for the last 2 months hasn't been kind to the battery!
