FOG LIGHT CRACK. RIDICULOUS.
Hi All, New Member here. I'm active on a few other forums, but I decided to post this here.
I know that many many c300 owners have had to deal with fog light cracks.
Well, yesterday for the 2ND TIME, my W204's fog light (drivers side) shattered. I went to the dealership and was asked to do the same repair (2 months ago) at the same cost of approx 300-400 dollars.
i said no, absolutely not, this is not my problem and i will not spend for it.
im only 17 so my request to see the service manager or gm was brushed off.
i left and called mbz north america and told them my situation at the dealership. i explained everything including my age, etc. (i love talking to corporate mbz -- treatment is over the top and very nice) they assigned me a case manager and it looks like ill be getting the light replaced under warranty.
anyways, the point of this post was to encourage members to (instead of paying to replace these lights [at this point, it's mbz's fault -- there's no way its mine...i just drive it normally]) call corporate mercedes and complain.
once they get the hint, i feel like mbz will take some action. or if not, atleast you wont have to shell out 400 bucks MULTIPLE TIMES to fix this dumb problem.
thanks for reading, ill let you all know what happens.

Just because it is not under warranty, doesn't mean it shouldn't be.
I don't want to waste my time or money replacing the stupid lens every 2 months. Money, especially.
If you are fine with paying to replace a cheaply/badly placed and designed fog light then be my guest.
For those that are tired of this, and think its wrong that thousands of C300 owners (who don't go on these forums and dont do DIY projects) are paying upwards of $400 MULTIPLE TIMES to get the lens replaced, then a quick call to corporate will let MBZ know that we are not happy.
I'm getting the fog light replaced for FREE because I called corporate. If I didnt, I would have to pay the repair cost again and thats $800 in 2 months for 2 broken fog light lenses that are NOT my fault.

CRACKED FOGLIGHT FIX Under $40. 2010 C300 Sport
CRACKED FOGLIGHT FIX Under $40
Passenger fog light cracked. Cost $35. Time to fix 20-30 minutes. Difficulty 3 (1-10).
Bought this fog light off of Ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/231938523006?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
1) Turned passenger wheel in (like making a left turn).
2) Popped plastic push pins off.
3) Pulled dirty plastic mud surround that shrouds the wheel well back towards wheel. Black hard plastic housing inadvertently fell out (probably should have removed that pop screw farthest to center bottom of wheel shroud. When I pulled the shroud back, it popped off)
4) Reached in with torx 15 (i think) wrench. Removed 4 screws holding silver metal light bracket to body off. Pop white light cord and socket off. Push to side.
5) Used many contortions to wiggle light and metal housing out.
6) reverse operation with new light.
Good video here:
Note: Driver side is more difficult due to windshield washer tank location.

I agree. Replace it yourself and Lamin-X. Just be careful. When I swapped to Phillips Diamond Vision bulbs, the film got burnt and turned black. Never had that issue with my Nokya 3000K bulbs.
