Front Rotor Rings

Hi Guys, posted the below in the E63 thread. It seems the C63 used the same rotors form 08-12. Thought someone here might be able to help me and I think everyone is looking for cheaper rotors.

I talked to Coleman racing and they said they can make the front rings for our cars for under 200 a piece. Hats are an extra 275 a piece if stock are not reused. Does anyone have the exact dimensions for a 2011 e63 front rotor ring or a worn out one I could send them? 2194210212 is the part number.

PP (P31) rings cannot be separated from the hats. They're not real 2-piece, more like 1.5.

Same question I had. I have a P30 and definitely looks as though it would be a two piece design -- nuts and bolts holding the ring.

Yes, P30 is 2 piece. This sounds like a great idea, as long as Coleman can make a good ring and we can get new hardware from somewhere.

I asked about hardware. They said fatenel has it or they potentially have some too. From reading I believe stock bolts could probably be reused too. Coleman makes brakes for race cars including NASCAR so I assume they should last.

It's getting done. Just need the measurements or old rotor. I can't send mine as this is my only car and its rough driving without brakes.

Haha totally. Same here but thanks for trying to get this together. So really all we need is someone to take measurements of old rotors with a micrometer?

If so, can't think be done while on the car? or do they need us to actually send in an old rotor?

Woah! Check this out: http://www.colemanracing.com/Assets/...rake_Rotor.pdf

Looks like it would be best to send them a rotor and have them measure/replicate.

In theory it can be measured, but as you see it would need to be off car and very accurate.

We or you should start a thread asking for someone to donate an old rotor. I'm sure someone has to have done or will do a break job on their P30 car at some point in the near future.

I think I did that already, but if you can do it better, please lets get it done. I posted this on the E63 forum which is the car I actually have and not one response. I posted hear as the C guys seem to be more into working on the cars. If you don't mind double check the rotor number I posted, from my research its the same on the E63, C63 and a number of other AMG as well, but I don't want to spam all the forums. I'd assume someone has a worn out rotor, but I'm guessing most people throw them out when they change the rotors.

Coleman Racing is in Menominee MI, about an hour north of Green Bay WI. Anybody in that area with a P30 package who might be willing to pay them a visit and ask them to measure your rotors on site?

Yes, I stated in my original post, under 200 for the rings is what they told me. I believe it was actually 182 dollars per ring. Thats from the rough dimensions I gave them. No matter what its going to be cheaper than the going rate of 700 or so for two rings from girodisc or Racingbrake and these will work on the stock hats. Hats themselves would be 275 a piece they said. I'm assuming the 182 would be plain rings so slotted drilled probably be a few bucks more.

I have Coleman 2-piece rotors custom fit for my Mazda RX-7. They have held up well to many track sessions. I was able to take the measurements off an old rotor and fill out their PDF to get it sent. I'm planning to go through Coleman when the time comes for the C63.

I don't recommend re-using the bolts from your old rotors. I think they may stretch (by design) when torqued. Coleman sent me new bolts since it was 100% new hats and rotors. If you can give them the thread pitch of the existing bolt, they should be able to match it. On my RX-7, I used loctite (red) on the threads to ensure they don't back out. Some people drill the bolt head and wire them just to be sure. But AMG didn't do that from the factory so who knows how critical it is. Better safe than sorry at the track.

Looking at the part number given for the E63, it shows up on Amazon listed for the C63 and a few other models as well. But $1800 for 2!

Thanks for checking into Coleman before I had a need myself!

When I was googling yesterday about hardware, I came across a forum where someone was replacing rings on another car and they reused bolts and people didn't think it was a problem. I believe these use springs or something and the bolts aren't really stretching. I'd bet given these are 10 bolts, that you could most likely get away with it. I would prefer to change the bolts myself. I understand Fastenel and Mcmaster car would have the bolts. Figuring out the size is another story

Good to know about bolt re-use. For sizing, if you can get one loose, the local Lowe's has a gauge to tell you size and thread pitch.

Just for the record, there are a number of AMGs that use this piece. That should add a bunch of potential customers to the list. According to one source I looked at, compatibility for Brembo 2194210212 includes the following. This does not count the solid-rotor owners who might be interested in an upgrade.

Agreed. But I'm not spamming all the forums. I did this one as it seems like c owners are more apt to do something like this.

I can, but it won't be til about spring. My car is in winter storage. I suppose I could pull a rotor off and run up there before that though.

K, so I just got back from my buddy's shop. We're gonna be doing some exhaust work on my car there in a couple weeks. While the car is there, we'll pull a rotor and make a trip up to the shop so they can get measurements.
