Well crap...
Guess this might be the end of a great run.
I hit a full tire cap off of an 18 wheeler, 70Mph, before sunrise as I was overtaking another truck. I think I saw every color liquid in the car leaking out. Super bummed because I'm sure the "value" of a 2005 C Class with 315689 miles on it won't be enough to fix it.

So sorry to read that.
But...at 70mph...I'm glad you're okay!
VERY IMPRESSIVE mileage you have...maybe some new lines and hoses can get her back on the road! What's the "value" to you...right?!

Cr*p... But looks like only the stuff on the front has suffered?
Radiator, AC condenser, Power steering lines. I don't think there is more stuff there.
Not sure I follow the "value" being enough to fix it. Are you paying for a comprehensive coverage on a cheap car like that?

Well we will see, USAA is kinda moving like a snail on this, and oh how I hate driving the rental car Chevy Cruz. My advisor offered to put me in one of their loaners so I didn't have to be in that, but he didn't have any available... bummer.

VVF- yeah I'm still carrying full coverage, but USAA says since it wasn't moving that they consider it collision not comprehensive. Which kinda floored me. If the tire was rolling towards me or an animal was moving in front of me that would be different. Since it was stationary it's collision. The NADA value is in the $3K area so I'm figuring that the will just total it out. Kinda hope not, I think it would be easy to fix and get it back on the road.

Yikes! I hope you are able to get it back on the road.
While it may not be worth much to the insurance company,
you seem to have hit dead on with your purchase with seemingly the most
reliable '05 C230 in existence.
Maybe take the money, buy it back and fix it?
I'm sure I wasn't the only one wondering how far this vehicle could go.
My buddy owns a detail shop and recently had a desiel station wagon come in with 1.4 MILLION miles. And the owner claimed to have another one with 800K.
I really hope you fix and keep racking up the miles just to see how far it can go....
you have more than a car, it's a rolling miracle!
I'm in a bit of the same boat these days, I hit a tree with my bike racks, ie with the bikes on top
and broke the pano glass and rear glass.
The car has 233K miles, and I've been driving with a leaking head gasket for 80K + miles, and
while I love the car, I could buy another one with low miles for like 4K, which I might do....
I sourced the glass pieces but concerned about getting the pano glass installed correctly.
I mean it runs, is smogged and everything....I put coolant in occasionally....it just keeps going...

Ouch, I know that Pano glass is expensive. I'm still waiting to see what USAA will say ( a week later)and I'll make a determination from there. I'd love just to wrench on it myself and get it back on the road, but I'm the only supervisors/rating official for my facility, I'm working six days a week... Not much free time. I'll keep posting up. My old Blue was special.

Well I said goodbye to my awesome car today. USAA says its worth $3300 and the estimated at $2500 in damage. While it was sitting in their yard its already been damaged more, they broke the drivers mirror and tore up my door sills that illuminated. Did get my DFW Dude flat badge back. Maybe nows the time to get that C55.... Hmmm.

Sucks... The car looks totally fine on the pic -- better than some $6-8k cars on the roads around here.
Did they provide an estimate of what they think is needed?
Have you looked into w209 CLK's ?

I don't know you, but it pains me to see this car go to the wrecker.
My mechanic told me one time that he thought my car had a soul,
vs other cars he'd seen that have a lot more problems. I recently destroyed the rear glass and the stationary glass on the sunroof with my bike rack. My insurance gave me $2,400 to fix it. so far I'm only into it for about 600. I was able to locate used pieces of glass, which brought the actual repair costs way down. They were allowing I think $950 just for the top piece of glass. I found it on eBay and did a best offer and got it for $125 including shipping. part of that estimate was to replace the racks, which I have no intention of replacing or ever putting on top of my car again. also there are some scratches but I have not yet dealt with. but if there was a C-Class on this forum that has a soul would have to have been yours. I am deeply saddened to see it go. I guess the reason I'm telling you all this is that you can pick up these parts really inexpensively, you had mentioned the possibility of fixing it yourself. how much would the insurance company want to buy it back? I suppose it's too late...

Yeah this car definitely had a great soul. Saved my butt countless times, had some great road trips along the way- Vegas, Denver, Oshkosh, Nashville, New Orleans, and all over Texas. I have done the what ifs to get it back on the road, and I just don't have the time for it, and my better half is totally against it. She just wants me to get something new. The "Yard" already messed it up, broke the drivers mirror and tore off my sill plate on the drivers side.... Uhhhgg.

That really does break my heart.
What an epic car - the unique color and that odometer is amazing...you should pull the gauge pack (easiest thing in the world to do) and frame that screen illuminating the 300k.
Sorry it is in a yard, getting kicked while down - If it were closer - I'd offer to grab parts to keep it "moving along" in mine...
Good luck finding the next one...the w205 is so beautiful...just no manual.
And who here doesn't love the C55...!
Me...I'd try for a C350 MTX.
(AND go get your high mileage badge!!!)
