oil question c32

Most manufacturers say 1 quart/liter per 1000 miles. That seems like a lot, as we expect no added oil between changes. In the old days, that was normal.
It can only go 4 places: rings, valve guides, blow by into the intake, leaks. Leaks would be huge. The other 3 are costly. That is why we don't like oil consumption.
FYI - Best I can tell I'm burning 1 quart every 2000 miles in my C32. Have not had it long enough to get a trend. I consider that normal. SL55 burns no oil.

If it's not leaking from around the intake gasket, check under there car where the transmission meets the engine... if you have oil streaking back from there, most probably a rear main seal.

You need to make sure it's not leaking. These cars don't normally burn oil, but they do leak a lot from many places. Because of the underpanels, it will not hit the ground, and will blow off when driving, so you may never see it on the floor even if it's a fairly large leak.
