2003 SL iphone hook up for music...
I've searched. Maybe the wrong places. I'm told that the only way to go with an iphone to play music is the FM adapter because the iphone is digital and the stereo is analog. All I get with the adapter is static and poor music. Do I have any other options?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Hmmmmmmmmm
I see that your car is a 2004. I wonder if mine has an accessory connector. If so, what exactly do you connect the iphone with? Is there an adaptor that can be purchased?
Thank you

Just open your glove box and look on the left side and you should see the input hole for the cable. I believe that your 03 also has it like mine.
Go to and electronic store and buy a aux cable that fits in the iPhone headset output jack and has a standard aux jack on the other end. I believe that the plugs are different size on each end. Once you get the correct cable go to the Aux stating on you Command center.

Mine either. I have a '05 SL500 made in March of '05. No AUX plug in the glove compartment.

One of the local aftermarket shops sell these for ~$175 US, about $40 for parts and $125 installed.

I might go this route short term.
The basic command system is ok for most things, I am not interested in video and with the top down expensive hifi won't matter. I just want to have Pandora and my iTunes on hand.
I also loathe turn by turn NAV. I am olde school and read maps and such.
Update - I found the compatible mcar unit on Ebay and got that for under $350.
I did look in depth at the iSimple units and they look pretty easy and straight forward.
Chose the mcar because of the integration with the COMMAND system, the charge through USB and bluetooth. The fact that I lose the CD Changer is a no brainer.
