Sl500 brake conversion sl55 brakes

I just acquired a new Amg brake set off ebay . And I wanted to know if anyone can confirm the fitment of these brakes. Is it a straight swap for front and back. I saw a thread about needing to get more parts for the rear.

Any info would be helpful and appreciated thanks.

I did the driver side of the car. Today not to hard. Looks a ton better. Will finish the passenger side in the morning.

if they are the same as sl55 brakes you don't have too. i drilled out the mounting holes with a high speed drill. went slow and used some cutting lube. went through about 2 bits. i used cobalt bits. then i bought longer bolts and added loctite with a nut on the back of the caliper. worked like a charm. no issues at all. you can switch out the steering knuckles if you like to spend money but its certainly not needed.

My brakes came from 05 s55,I try to in stall the front rotor I removed the back cover the rotor hits the steering nuckle.the sl55 & sl500 steering nuckle are different? In wich way? Only the mounting holes are larger? Everything else the same? The caliper I have is silver color with AMG LOGO it has 2 bleeder uses 4 brake pads per caliper is yours the same? Also the mounting holes do line up!
Thanks for the inform. Gmar7779

i trimmed the dust covers back. i have some better pics. my brakes never hit the steering knuckle . i am not sure if the sl500 and sl55 steering parts are the same.i am pretty sure the are the same except for the mounting hole size. i used the same exact calipers you are talking about. mine were from a 2005 sl55

I found out the s55 front rotor are different from the sl55,How did you mount the caliper after you drill the hole larger you mention using longer bolts, how did you add the nut behind the caliper? Also did you change out the rear brakes?
