NOOB with a couple of questions...
Hi everyone,
Just purchased a 2004 SL 55 I love driving the car and it is very low miles for this age of car. But as you would expect from a 10 year old car it has a couple of minor issues and I have a few questions.
1. When you unlock the car, shouldn't the seat move into position based on the key fob number? Right now I am pressing the seat memory button. Also how can you tell which key is key fob #1 or 2?
2. I set up the easy exit feature to shift wheel and seat. It shifts the wheel but not the seat. I've looked at posts on this an my seat is not way back enough to not trigger the exit. Anyplace I should look?
3. Where is the best source for stock parts? I want to replace the trunk struts (won't hold the trunk up) and do some other work and other than eBay, where should I be looking?
Thanks to all. Your information on this forum was invaluable as I was researching and purchasing this car. I really became much more knowledgeable after reading your posts.

I recently bought my trunk lid struts from autohausaz.com
Cost $79 USD the pair, free delivery and great service.
Easy installation and great result. A pleasant DIY job.
Cheers.

Ok, contacted Mercedes Benz via their chat line and this is what they said about the Key dependency and easy exit issue:
MB: Okay, Fred. I thank you so much for your patience while I conferred with my product advice team
MB: According to your owner's manual, page 114 will show you how to set it. If you are stating that it is ON, then there appears to be a fault in the system. You can also refer to page 149 for this. We would recommend that you see the dealer to have this properly diagnosed, since you have the key dependency set to ON and you are having issues
Me: Ok that's what I thought. same thing with easy exit. I have it set for seat and wheel and only the wheel works. So it may be related...
MB: Yes, sir. And thank you again for all your patience while I researched this for you with our experts here
So it appears that if you have key dependency on and easy exit set to seat and wheel, it should work as you thought it should. Unlock the door and the seat adjusts to you - turn the car off and the seat should back up. If it doesn't you have a fault...

By any chance, are you coming (to MB) from a GM vehicle, which does have a Driver 1 and Driver 2 key fob? Unfortunately (or fortunately), MB key fobs aren't driver-specific. However, unlike other car makers (like GM, for example), the seat memory function in an MB accommodates THREE drivers, so, !
