Using the Aux port for iPhone (my V60 Bluetooth alternative)

This may be old news, but I discovered that by using the Aux port (inside the glove box) to attach my phone, the car speakers and microphone work!!! Yippee! Hooray! Etc. Instead of spending $200 on a puck, I can used the Aux port. And, for $15 on Amazon, I can get a great Bluetooth receiver/transmitter to connect. The MPOW Streambot Mini works great and sounds just as good as using a cable to connect.

Yes--I did the same and use a wireless bluetooth transmitter--it works great and the sound quality is great as well.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
I don't believe the AUX port has mic wiring - just speakers. My guess is that your phone's mic is picking up your voice. Regardless, that's a good solution.

Hey JettaRed tell me more about this! I do not see any ports in my 2003 sl 500 glovebox, or maybe I do not know what to look for. The new phone stuff is getting way beyond me. Update, I do see a small hole in the left side of my glovebox! Is this it? Hard to see. Looks like a small screw. I've never noticed this as a "port" thanks for any more info.

Yes the aux input plug is the small hole in the LH side of the glovebox. Whatever is playing with your phone will play over the command unit including music, Siri and your phone conversations.

You found it! What looks like a screw is the phone jack.

I didn't think so either, but the people I call say I'm loud and clear. I will try to put my phone in the glove box and see if they still say so.

Thanks for that, Mo ... I'm going out to check inside my car's glovebox. I know there's an a/c vent in there, but I didn't know there's a jack also. Owning an MB is always a learning experience.

Yes, I discovered this nice feature awhile ago. My solution was to "blackbox" a device using the Fusion BT100 for Bluetooth streaming. I wanted it to power on when the car was running, so I hard-wire the power to the Fusion device to the cigarette lighter. The only issue I had with this was the noise that was introduced by the car's electrical system which caused an annoying variable hum. I solved this by adding an inline PAC SNI-1/3.5 3.5-mm Ground Loop Noise Isolator which cured the line hum. amazon

Hope this helps if others might have the same issues.

Just checked my '07 R230's glovebox: screws around the frame of the box to affix it to the dashboard, and an a/c vent ... but no aux port, no nothing. Nada.

I recall that only the earlier SL's had the aux in jack. Even if you have one, it's a pain to find the aux input in the radio menu. When you do however, it works very well.

Great find. Initially I couldn't find how to access auxiliary in the command, but luckily I have the manual and have what I need now.

For me when I plugged the phone in using the appropriate cable the screen on COMMAND changed to AUX PORT. Ready to go as is. Also you find it in the SVC menu (where I never go) at the bottom below change clock settings---see (AUX). Click on it and there it is. Then plug in phone and click on sound and it should come thru just great.

Hi. I am a new owner of an 08 sl550. I do have the Bluetooth connection for phone but want to know the best way to connect to stream music. I do not see any aux or even iPhone connector. Any help appreciated.
