SL just arrived! WOooooowwww
Man, what a car!
Took delivery on it yesterday -black/black/burl walnut, wheel package, wood steering wheel, illuminated sills as options, (wasn't all that impressed with the magic sky actually - cool magic trick but realistically I keep the sunshade open on previous cars all the time so it wasn't quite worth it). I do miss the distronic from my last E class though, but hey I don't want to waste a second in this car where I let it do the driving!
First impression of it was, an adjustment you could say. Much different feel from the E class and to be honest it was a little more rattley with the top up (given the roof I mechanics, I guess it's to be somewhat expected)
Everything else about the car though has inspired a maniacal laugh while driving. Top down, manual shift mode, traction control off - mash the pedal - WOW! The thunder of that engine, the turbos spooling! Before you know it, you're going way too fast and you don't even remember how you got to be going 80mph.
All in all, the sun is out and I'm going to go give her a shine and hit the road
Enjoy folks, I'll post a few more pictures when I get somewhere with photogenic scenery!

Of course congrats! Enjoy your new ride
This one is faster than any other 550 MB makes...

Emilner, that's why I opted for the SL550 instead of the SL63. The 63 had a ton of noise coming into the cabin, and not a good noise.

SL's have good very direct sound transfer from the rear area, wether it's stuff in the trunk, wheels or even the gas tank. Had that with AMG and non AMG, R230/R231.
I think this is simply part of the folding hard top roof as the mechanism keeps the inside of the car and the trunk area relatively open. There are just covers and flaps that seal up the inside. Soft top roofs don't have that, but then those have lots of other issues.

I think this is just part folding hard top design, no matter the brand. The components simply take up much more space. Personally that bothers me less than a soft top and the noise they make especially at high speed.
