Looking at a 1983 500SL...gray market?

This 1983 500SL has 99,000 miles and looks clean. Am I correct in assuming that this is a gray market model? It has euro bumpers, but US spec headlights and a US spec gauge cluster. The heavily bolstered seats look aftermarket. What do you guys make of this car?

SOLD both: 1987 560SL 2003 ML320
Looks good for the price. The seats look original to me. The euro bumpers are very desirable.

Mercedes
500 SL Grey Market

I've found one as well. I just verified the VIN with MBz. I am wondering, is the car better to part out as it would need tons of resto? I could swap the drive train into my SLC?
