Exhaust welding / resonator delete - battery disconnect?
Hi, my right side muffler/tip exhaust hanger weld has developed a crack, though not broken yet it is letting the right side droop and bounce a little - which will certainly shear it off completely in short order. I had also planned on finally removing the resonators and replacing with straight pipe, though the hanger repair is of course more imperative.
My question is, should I disconnect the trunk battery, starter battery, both - or none at all?
What did you guys do?
I know generally, on most brand vehicles "enthusiasts" suggest to just disconnect for piece of mind (don't think I've ever seen muffler shops actually do it)
On the flip side, with an MB and particularly an r230 - disconnecting the batteries can open up a can of worms, besides all the systems which will need to be "normalized" as MB puts it.
I will be using a MIG and of course will be grounded right to the hanger. While this seems like an extremely straightforward job I know how temperamental and delicate the electronics in these cars can be, so just wondering what the rest of you have done so I don't send my electronics up in smoke
Thanks in advance!

Mine cracked also. I took mine off to weld it. Doesn't take every long...if you're not comfortable. I have also welded with ECU/TCU's in and battery connected. Been lucky I guess. I've had friends who weren't so lucky...
