Lowering Links - Harmful?

I just installed some lowering links and lowered by 65 by an inch all around. If anyone has any long-term experience with these, did they prove harmful to suspension components / ABC?

Thanks!

I use a lowering module instead, but know a number of guys using links. None of them have reported any issues related to ABC/suspension. If you have not already done so though, you might want to do a wheel alignment at your new lowered height.

I've had them on for nearly a year with zero concerns,,tire wear is perfectly even..ML tracks straight and true

Links on my SL for years. Only damage is I chew through tires like a hooker goes through condoms. Inner tire wear is unstoppable.

I have had links on for around 3 months.
So far all OK but the ride is ruined, constant bumping which can be
frightening over 100 mph. I will change to a module when funds permit.

Perhaps your tyres are made of condoms....

Thanks for the info

Thanks all!

Sound 8, agree, my ride is much harsher. That said, the car looks much better lowered an inch; as though it's crouching...

Cal1, took her in to my local stealership / AMG Performance Center for an alignment. Shockingly, they told me I didn't need camber bolts to meet specs. Thought they'd take me for the additional $. How much did the lowering module set you back? And, have you been able to compare the ride of both lowering links and module? Is the module softer?

Thanks again!

The module is definitely your answer. You simply adjust the speed levels where the heights rise to stock or whatever level you are comfortable.

600 US is all it costs that is unless you want the same unit with a Renntech logo on it. Then it will cost plenty more.

Click on the link in the post I made about the same time as your last post (#8).

Because I have the speed setting to adjust back to normal height at about 45 mph or so, I notice no difference in handling or ride at normal driving speeds. At lower speeds, I feel a slightly stiffer ride which I like. I have a second speed setting at about 30 mph so as I slow through 30 and enter a corner, the car drops about 6 tenths of a inch. The car goes through the corner better.

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
No matter how you make the car go lower, you are still on all the same suspension components Nothing has changed to make the car harder or softer. What has changed is you reduce the air shock down low and it has less cushion or travel , so it is like sitting down on solid metal. Not exactly, but more solid that it had when the air was hi and there was more travel .
What you do to compensate is let the suspension down lowest when you are parked or stying around town, and raise the suspension to high when you are driving . When its hi, its more even and level caster and camber. So the tire wear is more normal.
