An offer that cannot be closed is not a true offer. Fools who don't have or can't get money will offer the world cause they know they can't pay. Good Luck with your sale though.

Does 90k for this one a couple years ago sound better?

Holy krap... This is the most ridiculous thread update & the biggest fail at trying to FLIP a car for ahh.. ahem.. cough.. cough.. a cool $24,000 Dollar profit??? (Taking into account he traded it to you after he couldn't sell it for $45,000.00 hence $24,000.00 profit I don't care what it was appraised at, reality states aftermarket modifications sell for pennies on the dollar & this is a very high mileage 12 yr old SL55, the ACTUAL buyers out there are setting this uniquely colored autos price not the appraiser )
I'll say this much "You either have a set of giant ballz? or you're just extremely dense" This isn't the right pond to find your huckleberry.. Writing your "Motivated to sell this beauty w/price DROP to $69,000.00 is utterely priceless
This exact SL55, has sat in this exact thread & couldn't sell for $69,000.00 1 1/2 years ago, it also ran a couple Auctions on eBay & never sold... We forum members have sat ringside as it languished here those 1 1/2 yrs he dropped the price monthly, then OP finally heeded our words & dropped the price to $45,000.00 it couldn't even sell @ that price either & instead he had to finally settle for a trade to you.. This SL will never sell for ANYTHING close to $70k or $60k-$50k- I have the same exact widebody kit w/much more hp/tq on the more desirable V12 Biturbo engine platform, also not in an unorthodox'd non Mercedes color.. Mines OEM gloss black & wouldn't delude myself in the value being any higher than $45k even though mine has LESS mileage & is 2 years newer an '05 vs your '03

I always find it funny how we beat up "our own MBZ cars" when someone is trying to get what they feel it is worth. I find similar things go on in the Pantera forums & sometimes against my own show car Panteras from members. These builds are very unique, needing even more so the "right time, right place, right person, right money". Takes some specific target marketing to reach out and find those people that love such builds and color. I find it is usually more beneficial to start high, do target marketing, and then negotiate down if needed, rather than start low and negotiate up....huh?

This car was up for 2 years that's why its been hard to find a right price point for this, plus with every year going by takes a hit in deprecation, with a unique color which will make the market harder to, as well as the engine might as well have to do something with it, and type of body kit makes it even harder
I mean look at this red SL600, it has a black series body kit, Speedriven intakes and intercoolers, ecu/tcu, with less miles, forgestar wheels, and a color more apeasing to the market and it hasn't sold for 65k (I could of sworn I saw this car for sale in Chicago for 70k but now its in NC)
http://www.allcollectorcars.com/for-...SL600/1553904/
So asking for a higher mileage, less desirable engine, and a body kit some might argue harder to sell since its more of an aggressive kit compared to a BS kit

I must of missed a post or two
I thought the selling price was in the
neighborhood of $45,000 and
heading south
You become the owner by trade
and quickly put the car up for sale
What was your original selling price
for the car prior to dropping the price to
$69,000.00
I have to ask
Are you an enthusiast
Or a car salesman

That red car was at Private Collection Motorcars down the street from me in Costa Mesa CA, couldn't give it away it seemed. I was checking out their Murcielago but I looked at it, took lots of photos and overall looked nice. When the car was turned off, after about a minute, it would raise itself to the top height, which seemed odd.

Bumping to clarify. My old car had buyers at $65k, $60k, and multiple mid $50k's. I took people for their words and gave them months at a time to come up with the money as i was in no hurry. That is the reason it took so long. Not that it couldn't be sold, but I was nice enough to take people on their word and remove from listings during those times. Over 1 year was wasted alone on combined waiting for "committed" buyers. I got sick of the waiting, so hence the price drops. Because people kept seeing it for sale I knew it would start to raise questions about it and question the true value. I knew a hole was being dug, with people seeing it come back up for sale, and only for the dam reason I took people on their word they would follow through with the purchase. Was simple as that.
No need to do speculations of how you feel the market is or coming up with your own reasons car didn't sell. It was nearly flawless. Btw- he did sell car a few months ago to someone in Utah for $48k.
But, it's in the past, so not a XXXX is given now. I just don't like assumptions happening around me, when I was there.
Got Noble into show condition and mechanically perfect and turned it in just a month or so. Basically, getting back near what I was originally asking for the Merc, it just took one more car to do it.
The new car- RCR Superlite Coupe. Game changer and game ender! Twin turbo 1UZ, and 2600lbs. Wait until this car is finished. Many body mods planned to reflect a more current LMP car design, and supercar grade interior. These literally can be made to be some of the fastest cars you can have street legal. Hoping to have ready for 2016 show season.
Car was purchased as an unfinished project for less than the sale of the noble. So really, it worked out best for me in the end.

We have been in a heat wave here for over a month, so work has been slow. Been knocking on 100 here in Oregon, and this guy wasn't built for that! Especially since I am out in it all day too. Been collecting parts and getting my full game plan down. Once temps subside, work will continue.
The car has 295 front tires and 335 rears. Will be moving engine radiators to rear also and will be making an intake based on itb's and running water to air intercoolers instead of the current air to air. It will be quite a piece when done. It should have numbers rivaling the current top supercars, and maybe even hedge them out abit too.
I plan to hit quite a few major shows in '16 and try for some big titles. After that, I will try my hand at a Mecum or similar auction.
Next car slated will be either a Diablo or Murcielago. The Diablo is on it's way up already, but the Murci is at it's low. Just get it, make perfect, store it, and start this whole process over. Haha

Thanks man. The motor is pretty much just for mock up right now, but once built, I think I will limit it to about 800hp. It will spin to 10k rpm tho. It will make for some dirty underwear. lol.
