Pump Failure and best price..

Hello all. Just came back from my MB Dealership to look at my "soft close" issue. I looked up every thread on this and the tech is also aware. It does seem I need a new pump for the soft close. MB quoted me $2,450 (Canadian) and I could get it for a bit of a discount ($2,100 - $2,200). I live close to the border and have an address in Blaine Washington. Can anyone name a good place to find one? My brother can install it..

Thank you,

Shaun

If the vacuum pump does not work, then all of the other vacuum features (door locks, etc.) would also not work. Are they not working too?

Personally - I'd go to ebay for a pump. They don't fail often, so a used one should last years.

Thank you and I think I agree..

...and so does my brother. He still thinks it is the faulty latch but wants to seal it up and diagnose it. If the pump is gone it should be gone. Not work at all. Even when the fuse is pulled and reset. Will still keep all posted. I think the mechanic at MB was thinking "how far do I want to look into this?" and went with the easiest option.

Cheers!

Shaun

FYI - my trunk soft latch was leaking too. Makes a hissing noise when closing typically.
Pull it out, epoxy it up, reinstall, good to go.
If your doors unlock/lock with your remote...your pump works fine.

Thanks guys..

That's exactly what I was thinking with the locks. My brother said don't do anything until I look at the latch. The MB mechanic said the pump doesn't send a "signal" to the latch which is most likely due to the leak in the system (at the latch). Cnterline, I have sen the DIY and it was the first thing I looked at. My bro was busy and didn't have time to look so I just brought it to MB because my friend there in service did it for nothing. Will light a fire under my brother's *** and possible bribe him with a very good bourbon to get it done.

Cheers!

Shaun
