Interstate Battery Wrong Size '01 SLK 320
Just for everyones information. If your looking for a replacement battery to be carefull using the battery that Inerstate recommends for the '01 SLK 320. The battery they recommend is to long to fit. After a lot of driving around and a lot of wasted time the problem was fixed with a different battery. Maybe I can save someone some time. Interstate doesn't seem to care.

The problem was ......
I decided to install the battery myself to save $50 for about 15 minutes work.
So they sold me the wrong battery which I took home and then had to return on my dime and my time.
That was the problem.
You see my time is worth something.

2001 SLK320
I know this is an old thread, but I am in the middle of a similar situation with Pep Boys. I have an 01 SLK320 and the Bosch battery I bought from Pep Boys is about 4.5 inches TOO LONG!!!!
It is also the only battery that they list as being compatible with a 320. Autozone and Orielly's list similar size batteries. (all are about 14" long, versus the 9.5" that my old dead battery is).
Does anyone know how I can locate the proper battery. This is very frustrating!

Interstate MTP-91
I had this battery installed in my 99 SLK about a year and a half ago and it fit fine, I do not recall it being seated outside the stock battery tray dimensions as I worked on the engine to install a SmartTop and change spark plugs and wires (I no longer own that particular SLK). It is listed as just under 11.5 inches long versus the 14 and 9.5 you mention. Maybe the tray can accomodate longer than your current battery. Hope this helps, keeping in mind battery models may change over time, but the 11.5" spec is from the interstate web site:

MBWorld Fanatic!
My car came with an Interstate battery and it is a perfect fit. It shouldn't be all that difficult to measure the old and buy the new based on size and amperage.
