SLK/R170: Replacement battery size

2001 SLK 320
Replacement battery size
All of the sizing guides indicate group size 49 my 2001 SLK 320. However, that size battery is at least 14" long, which appears much longer than my current battery. What is going on? What is the appropriate size for a replacement battery?

Ok folks here is the poop, the straight poop and the poop that counts regarding battery size.
I went out and measure mine.
It is 11" long, 6 3/4" wide and 7 1/2" tall. That makes it a group 48 battery.

I was mistaken on my battery being an Interstate. It is a World Source One.
As to an OEM battery, if your car is an R170 any dealer schukin' and divin' is irrelevant.
I have been told the WSO batteries are better than the OEM batteries. In my experience any after market battery was better than the Varta batteries they use in the 80's and 90's.
