need advice or help ...finally took my car in for the supercharger and first the dealer thought it was super charger clutch but that was not it...now they are saying the Field Core is bad in the supercharger and i need a new super charger...anyone know what that is ( field Core)? Before i took it in i could hear a squeaky noise like it was the pulley or clutch. they want over 4Grand to replace the whole super charger. any ideas or suggestions welcome.

If it truly is the supercharger, just source one from a salvage yard and pay less than $1,000. Just make sure it has a good bearing and fresh oil, and you should be fine.
I've only seen 2-3 superchargers totally fail... most times, it's just the clutch/pulley bearings that make noise. The "fix" most dealerships employ is to simply replace the whole unit.
I would get a second opinion.... but if you truly have no power at any RPM regardless of temp, then it's a possibility you have a failed supercharger.

i have no power at any temp so i am sure it is something to do with Supercharger...they tried replacing the Clutch and said that was not it and it was the whole super charger...i have not given them the go ahead to do the work yet so i may see if i can find one in savage yard.
thank you for the quick reply...helps a lot.

Supercharger rebuild
If you've really got a supercharger problem (needs a rebuild) please talk to Jon Bond, @ (515) 200-9992. Jon did mine for about $500 and has all the parts if you want to do your own work. Let me know how it turns out or if I can give you more information.

SLK32 repairs
Next time you have a problem or need an upgrade please feel to let me know, I've been through my car several times. I've just finished a major brake upgrade (replaced the standard two piston with Brembo 4 piston) off a SL 500AMG, cost was $125 for the calipers off eBay, Brembo pads $110 and all new hardware $45. Made 4 new shims on my lathe to correctly center the calipers and with all new hoses total cost was less that $250. The MB dealership was talking about $2750 so you do the math.
