No it is not. A black series hood is about 2 inches wider and has different heat extraction ports.

The transmission problem ... while typically in a parking lot, the transmission message would say "rev not poss, see service" and it would lock in 3rd gear. I would turn it off, then turn it on again and it would be OK. It happened 4 times and finally the engine light would stay on. They took a week to figure it out and MB would not let the dealer open it up, so they sent a new transmission. The mechanic told me it was the third transmission he has replaced on SLSs and while he thought the problem was electronic, the fact that MB would not let them open it required the new one.

sls gullwing, sls roadster, panoz esperante gtlm
I thought the pricing was low when I got it. I bought a s550 in Nov and they told me that MB had raised the price to 6700. I got a deal. That being said, the engine in the crate is about $70k, the tranny $14k, plus the normal main computer parts. I still think the 6700 is a good deal.
Now .. an update to my 2 sls's. I have 2 2013 SLS's. A roadster and a gullwing. Both were problematic for the first 3 months. Since then they have been perfect. The Gullwing has 14000 on it and the roadster 8,000 miles. Love the cars. No matter what is out ... new lamborghini hurican, ferrari, aston martin, bentley GT; this is absolutely without a doubt both the most exclusive, most reliable, and most driveable of them all. While I admire the Audi R8, and Audi's influence on the the Lambo, the SLS is the clear winner.
I am 68 and do not want museum pieces ... I drive these things ... I have no back up other than a 2015 s class. These are absolutely wonderful ... but while Mercedes will never have the cache that Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley and Aston have ... but it is a better car, more exclusive and in the eyes of the beholder, a piece of art. When I say exclusive when I show up at car shows, only the McLaren has the exclusivity (and McLaren is a great car too). There are always tons of ferrari's, a few Lambos, etc. ... By the way all are great art ... I just like to drive my art.

Wow.... Ron must have to put kids through private school!
When I am ready, I will have to call a bunch of dealerships and work um good. I doubt the price is fixed from dealer to dealer.
