Before I pull my trigger, just want to check with all owners here to see if you guys have came across with any major issues with the car.

High mileage owners, please chime in.

I'm looking at a 2011 with 24,000km on the clock, factory warranty have expired.

The only thing I know is trans malfunction and was replaced under warranty on some early cars,a part from that so far Flawless.

 

Sounds scary, most of the preowned SLSs over here doesn't have warranty anymore.

OMG these SLS AMGs are tanking, once it gets into the 100k range I'll be def ready to buy one

Anyone curious how low these cars will go? I'm thinking for some reason once they hit high 80 low 90 they wont be going down anymore and hover there for awhile, but I could be wrong

Also curious about the Turbocharged SLS vs Supercharged SLS when I do get an SLS

 

3 years warranty only started 2012 over here.

 

Guess we are spoiled here with a 4 year warranty which we had in existence as long as I can remember.

 

Slight mods are on the way, will keep you guys posted!

BTW, have upgraded the software on the TCU, it totally feels like a different car!

 

Congrats, looks amazing, also looks like the previous owner blacked out the brushed aluminum fins on the hood and side vents, looks good!

 

I have an 2013 SLS Gullwing with 11,000 miles on it and it is bullet proof. No problems. The dealler sold me an extented Mercedes warranty for $3500 that extends for 7 years and 75000 miles. Worth getting.

Actually I've wrapped the fins as soon as I picked it up and plasti dipped the badges.

 

Unfortunately we can not buy extended warranty over here in China.

 

It looks like the GT version with the rapped fins!

 

It does indeed. I'm now hunting for a Final Edition bonnet, hope this will ease the heat from the engine bay.

 

Do you have any more pictures of your front grill? Did you vinyl wrap that as well? I really want to black out all the trim but I'm not sure what to do with the front grill. Any pics or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

Good luck with that. I think the dealer price on a Final Edition (SLS Black Series) bonnet is $75,000.

And I've got 23k miles on mine, no issues so far.

That doesn't seem right. A final edition hood is just an unpainted Black Series hood. I could even see them charging $9900 for a standard aluminum hood. I mean, even the carbon fiber "flicks" on the bumper are thousands of dollars to replace.

The B/S hood is full carbon and the F/E is carbon look,not real carbon.Hope this will help.

What I have done is wrapped the silvery part on the cross bar of the grill and the slivery part surrounded the three pointed star.

I know it is way past the time you asked, but owning 2 sls's, I can tell you that there are a number of problems and paying for fixing off warranty will be expensive. I have gone through a transmission (never raced or abused), door shocks, coils, instrument cluster, etc. I have had more problems with both these cars than any other Mercedes that I have owned (24). I am hoping these problems work themselves out. The good news is that in the U.S., you can get an extended warranty from Mercedes on the SLS for 7 years, 75000 miles for $3500. I am glad I did that. By the way, both my SLS's are daily drivers and are 2013.

 

Sounds very scary! Can you please tell me what happened to the transmission?Not sure why AMG in China doesn't offer any extended warranty.

 

The transmission problem ... while typically in a parking lot, the transmission message would say "rev not poss, see service" and it would lock in 3rd gear. I would turn it off, then turn it on again and it would be OK. It happened 4 times and finally the engine light would stay on. They took a week to figure it out and MB would not let the dealer open it up, so they sent a new transmission. The mechanic told me it was the third transmission he has replaced on SLSs and while he thought the problem was electronic, the fact that MB would not let them open it required the new one.
