Flat Battery
hi guys,
my first post here..
Ive own my SLS for just over a year and I havent been driving it for the past 4 months and the battery is totally flat (need to use the manual key to open the door and theres absolutely no power what so ever).
Im just wondering what do I need to do to recharge/jump start the battery? Jump start it just like a normal car?
Ive noticed theres a red cable connected to the battery. Where could I plug the cable into?
By the way... Im the new owner of that 1 of 1 factory Blackbird edition in RHD..
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply guys!
I actually found a few owners yesterday here in Sydney Australia .. they've been telling me to drive the car more frequently to avoid flat battery..
Heres a photo of my car. Factory matte black made exclusively for Sydney Motor Expo ... apparently I'm the third owner.
one of those cars that either you love it or you hate it. It definitely looks a lot better in person.

It's basically a Mercedes branded CTEK trickle charger but with the SLS specific magnetic pigtail and extension. If you're lucky, you should still have the magnetic pigtail + extension in an accessories bag that came with the car. You'll still need the specific trickle charger to mate up with the magnetic pigtail...only available from your dealer.
There are a couple of threads in this forum which detail it further (with pics). Good luck!

So my battery just died as well and at the dealership getting replaced but have an issue. This battery was replaced under the original factory warranty about a year ago. I am now out of the factory warranty but under the ELW. Apparently the extended warranty doesn't cover the battery. These batteries come with a 2 year warranty but my dealership is saying because it was replaced under the factory warranty, the battery itself doesn't have the 2 year warranty and expired when the original warranty expired. Has anyone experienced the same? Seems strange that the individual battery has a two year warranty but because it was replaced under my car warranty a year ago, it doesn't anymore...

Thank you. Ive always wanted the original Gullwings... trying to save up for one...
do you know where the accessories bag might be in the car? And is there any websites that sells them in the US? Im pretty sure the dealers in Australia wont have them in stock...
You might want to invest a few dollars in the SLS specific trickle charger from Mercedes. It's a nice accessory to have and easy to hook up via the special magnetic point in the trunk (boot). I use it all the time.

When you own and SLS and have a good relationship with your dealer you should ask them to run any out of warranty repairs through the "Goodwill" program. MB will want to retain you as a customer. SLS Membership has its privileges

I'd contact your dealer, even if they don't have them in stock - they will be your best source. You could also try eBay just be careful to get the right parts if you want to use the magnetic charging point in the trunk.

+1. Ask nicely and they'll probably give you a 1-time 'goodwill' replacement.

My goodwill is the shuttle ride back and forth apparently lol. Confirmed with MB customer service that it's not covered even though they have a 2 year warranty.
Now for the new battery I have to purchase, it will come with a two year warranty but they'll only replace it once within that two year warranty.
