I am in the same position. I picked mine up for a steal, figured it would be a 7-8/10, but it has turned out to be a 9.5/10. The climate here is so harsh on cars, that I am having second thoughts about using it as a DD. I will probably use my C220 for the time being until I figure out what I want to add to the stable next. I may have cars coming out my ears, but most are in some state of disrepair or in the middle of modifying and therefore immobile. Sure is great to be a mechanic, eh? It's true what they say; if you work on cars, you'll rarely have one that's usable. Especially with my strict standards.
I am yearning for something with Distronic, as I'm moving to Denver later this year which will leave me with a 100km commute every day in traffic. The 220s are pretty much the worst MB ever made, but I think I could live with shoddy build quality if it was one of the biturbo S600s. It would definitely need a coilover conversion as well. I hate the airmatic systems in those cars. Ruins a decent car. The ride is loud and harsh when at city speeds, and floats down the highway once you hit about 150kph. Great.

MBworld and Bworld are the best forums I've found. I'm a member of bummerforums, and F***list, and Fchat. Those forums drive me up the wall. It's hard to find nice people to chat with. On F***list, they were discussing heart-rates while racing their Porsches! Fchat is somewhat better, although 95% of those people are typical Ferrari owners. They know nothing, and have their heads stuck where the sun doesn't shine. Bummerforums? Well if you want to get bummed out, then head over there.
In other words, MBworld rocks!

Mine's a DD. About 50-55 miles a day. In traffic or open freeway its a joy. Just did oil change and air filters today at 140k. I'll probably drive this thing until it dies which given the reliability could be a long time. That said, every time I take it in for service I get a least 3 MB techs asking if I want to sell it to them!
I really want a 5.5TT E63, but I can definitely wait.

Nice,Love the EVO's, due to some financial issues I sold my toy , 08 jeep SRT 8 with exhaust CAI , and custom tune. Would love to pick up a nice C43 AMG. Maybe next year if I can turn things around. Right now I'm just making lemonade out of these lemons. If you know what I mean .

Hey, nice to know that we are passonate about our cars. I just came back from Lime Rock yesterday. They have the American LeMan Series. Sad to say...there should be an AMG in that race...Mostly Porsches and couple of Ferraris and M3's. I saw two W210 E55 not including mine, and a W211 E63 out in the lot. They had some C63 lapping the track before the race and the guy was really showing off his drifting technic
I still wish we had a dragstrip here in CT where we can bring the cars out on a Friday nite and have some fun like the folks down south.
Anyway, if you want to know the usual mod on these cars...I have them....

Checking in. Back from a week stay in Palm Desert Villas. Fueled up @ the end of Cook and reset trip computer. Hoped on the 10 back home to HB. Here are the stats:
Miles 117
Time 1:41
MPH 68
MPG 21.6
This little car rocks! Played "cat & mouse" with a guy that was test driving a Boxter. He was trying hard in traffic to keep up, but left sheepishly after 5 exits.

I visit the forum several times a week but hardly post...just look for solutions to my problems lol.
I have a 99' Designo edition with 66k miles...really low miles for the age but no one ever drove it! I just started using as my daily driver about 6 months ago...Currently fixing the AC which I can't seem to find the solution to. I've taken it to 3 mechanics and no one knows what the problem is, I guess thats german engineering for ya

So the EC light would stay on...An indie mechanic reset it and charged me $100 and the EC light turned off and then a few hours later the EC light turned on and stayed on permanently...
I looked up possible problems and replaced the evap temp sensor and then the AC worked for a few hours (EC light turned off) and then the EC light turned on and stayed on again...
I ran the test for errors and got this:
1-127
2-100
3-120
4-120
5-E
6-175
7-08
8-157
9-
E61-230
E61-241

Any advice?
I'll post pics later...no pics on this computer. It's black though!

State? Could be a few things going on- I had an issue with my AC and all it needed was a recharge.
