Anyone own multiple E55s?
We are contemplating picking up another E55. We both really like our current 01. I would like to find a different color for the next one. I have found one autotrader that is a really dark red, but I am sure it will be gone by the time we want to buy (late spring early summer). Are we just crazy, or do other folks own multiple E55s?

I own multiple 55's.. '05 SL55, '06 SLK55, and just added an '05 E55 to my 55 stable.
What about adding a different 55 like a CL55, CLS55, or SL55??

No coupes, We have two little ones lol. We just both like the very mild looks of the w210. I personally would not mind a 04+ s600, but those are a bit more than we want to spend (we don't finance cars).
One thing I have noticed with these cars is prices for them are all over the place. I found a couple with less than 50k miles for around 10-12, quite a few between 150-175k for around 6k. If anyone has some good suggestions (10k budget) post em' up!
I do like the CLS55's nice smooth lines on those!

I know right.. Well there are definitely some affordable 55's out there.. Just be patient..
Yeah, love the lines on the CLS55 and your two little ones would have their own seat back there!!

I own a 01 and a 02. My 02 is dark grey and my 01 is silver.
The silver looks nicer.
I would not buy black or red. I have see dark blue and that is a nice color.
02 has upgraded electronics. Most allow you to install a Bluetooth puck and use your phone.
I would only buy 01 or 02 so you get the steering wheel controls.
I have 1 in PA and one in NY that is why I have 2. If I lived full time in one place I would buy 1 great one rather than 2 good ones.

There is a silver 02 here locally with 63K mi for a little over $11K
The dark blue is nice especially with the blue tint glass. I have only seen one but it had chrome wheels and too many miles for me at the time.
Id get a second of I could find a clean white one

I like white as well, looks more classy.
I just pulled the trigger on this one!! One option that I wanted was the Power Panorama Roof. I think it's a decent deal, pretty clean, and the same color as my other 55's!!

At one point I had 3. W210, W211 and W209. But just too many wife forced me to sell... To be honest, I miss so much my W210 and might buy one again soon. The W209 just too small and not even fast... My 210 is faster than the CLK. (I had 2 CLK55 W209) I had W210 and W211 together for 4 years and they are all very reliable to me.

'99 and '05 E55 AMG
Yes to multiple E55s. My wife liked the '99 so much it became hers by default. I then picked up an '05 from an F16 pilot who was transferring to Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany and didn't want to take the car with him.
If I could only have one, I'd keep the '99. The '05 is a better all-around performer but the performance comes at a steep cost.
FWIW, I found both of mine on Craig's List. Took a couple of months for each one but it was worth it. The '99 was advertised as 128,000 on the odometer but I happily bought the car. My first full tank of gas in the '99 I was rather surprised about getting 35 mpg! Then I realized the odometer displayed in kilometers so the car really only had 79,000 miles on it. Now the price I paid was even better!
And both of mine are in black exterior/interior.

By steep cost I mean the cost of replacing the Sensatronic Brake Control module, the air suspension front and rear, or the supercharger. When I bought it I had not researched the potential costs of replacing or repairing the above.
Gas mileage is ~20 mpg on the '05, >22 but <23 on the '99. No issue with me. Basic upkeep is very similar but I perform ~98% of the work required myself (to include engines, transmissions, and differentials). I'll see how well I perform against the Mercedes computers. I'm apprehensive but confident....
The '99 is simpler but still powerful and not to be trifled with...the '05 is absolutely awesome but I've set aside about $5000 "just in case" to deal with any issues with it. I'd rather put that $5K to use elsewhere....
Don't know if this helps but I'd rather give you real feedback...

The guy actually had a gallon of distilled water in the trunk when we looked at it!! I mean seriously?!! He told me he likes to keep water in the trunk (in gallon form.)
I wouldn't buy that car for $5k.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I do really love the fact that the w210 is so well built and reliable. I have contemplated the idea of passing the E55 to the wife, and finding myself a similar year clk55.

I agree. It looks amazing...in the pictures. The shine to the paint and wheels especially. But up close, not so much. Tons of little cosmetic issues inside and out. I couldn't believe it. I talked to this guy forever and everything seemed legit. I grilled him with questions and he was very knowledgeable about these cars. He assured me the car was almost perfect. I laughed when I took a close look. He played dumb when I got there. Total waste of time. This guy will never sell this car for the price.
