RPM's hanging, PO507 & PO505

I've had some recent issues and the dealer suspected my stock grinded throttle body was the reason. The ECU is showing PO507 and once the car was up to normal tempterature and a I'd restart it, the rpm's would hand around 1050-1100, thus triggering the CEL for high idle rpm's. To prove the dealership wrong, I just reinstalled my stock throttlebody(no grind, 100% stock) and it is only worse. Now the car idles around 900 and when I hold the gas down and let off, it sticks pretty much whatever rpm I raised it to. The ECU showed PO507 and PO505 when I first checked and is now only showing PO507. Any idea? It is headed back to the dealership tomorrow. I pulled it apart this weekend and found absolutely no vacum leaks, including the vapor line running under the intake area.

Thanks,
Todd

I would say vacuume leak somewhere..but you are saying else. Maybe bad wiring harness to the TB from the main?

What I can't figure out is why it would become so much worse as soon as I install the untouched throttle body. I would think if I have a vacum leak seperate from the tb that it would be about the same regardless of which tb I run.

Thanks,
Todd

I was thinking it might be the throttle sensor near the pedal but, figured it would provide a malfunction as well as a CEL.

Did you buy the throttle body Tod or just grind the stocker? Is it the 82mm?

It is an OEM throttle body that I got from Shardul and simply grinded the shaft smooth.

I just swapped the modified throttlebody back on and pushed on all the connections and did another sweep for any vacum leaks and all the tests in the garage show the rpm's going right where they should. The scanner also shows 0 codes. I'm going to take it out tomorrow and beat on it for a while to see if all the issues are cleared up or if the rpm's continue to hang. If this solves it, I'm guessing I didn't have a good electrical connection to the tb the first 2 times...

Actron 9185. I've had a few and always go back to this one. Cheap, easy to use, and you can pull data while driving or just check codes.

Did you ever find out where the leak was? I also followed the vapor line that runs along the side of the drivers valve cover and bends under the throttle body and connects inside the intake. I jiggled that and really made sure it was in the hold and then rebolted it to the valve cover. Lastly, I bought a new secondary air injection valve and filter since my filter broke off the port last week. Not really sure which fixed the problem but, I'll know tomorrow after a drive if my worries are over...

Those 2 codes were the ones I was getting with an 82tb.If there is no leaks I think you moves the throttle blade off its track.

do this, put stock tb on and reset the ecu with a scan tool.Dont start the car yet and go over to the throttle body and unhook the cable going to it.Then go back and turn they ket to the stage right before the car turns on.you should get a error on the dash.wait 20 seconds and then turn the key to the first position without taking it out and go plug the cable back in.

Now go put the key to the stage right before the car starts and wait 3 min,the car will re adapt the throttle body and you will hear it move on its on.

this is a trick instead of reseting the throttle body with star.

You were dead on! Unfortunately by the time I read your response I had already dropped the car off at the dealership. I forwarded your suggestion to the tech and after he did all kinds of smoke/BS checks, he finally resorted to readapting the throttlebody with STAR and it appears to be working fine now.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Todd
