Conti Extremecontact DW vs Michelin Pilot Super Sport (PSS)
Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice as to which tire is better? I don't do any track time, however, I may visit the drags once in a while. Mostly used for spirited street driving. I would like a balance between comfort and grip. Read too many contrasting reviews on several different vehicles, figured I should ask the people that know the best for our cars.
Thanks,
Trevor

DW has excellent grip, soft sidewalls and make it feel like the car is leaning more than it is. Takes bumps well though.
PSS has slightly better grip but much better feedback and firmness due to stiffer sidewalls. Bumps do get transmitted through a bit more though

^^ couldn't have said it any better. If you want tons of grip and great feedback through the twisters go with the PSS's. They really aren't that much more considering the drastic difference between the 2.

DW is outperformed in the dry by Pilot Sport A/S 3. Yes, all-seasons. Let alone PSSes.
Don't waste your money on DWs, especially for this car. You will regret it.
Pay for the best, cry once. You won't do much crying because the price delta is minimal.
PSS for summer, PA4 for winter = no regrets.

Using Conti Extreme contact DW tuned and I'm happy.
I never drag my car. Spirited driving around canyon "type roads" and car holds well.
Ride is smooth though and I run Nitrogen in all my tires.
Next set might be PSS cuz I've never tried em that's the only reason.

Have had both on my E55, those that favor the Conti have simply never had a set of PSS.
There is not any one component more important than the tires on your car.

Hi
I just had my new PSS tyres fitted on my rear wheels under 4 hours ago.
All I can say is "WOW" what an amazing difference in straight line grip.
I have not done a 100% full throttle take off from a stopped position but I did get the chance to test a couple of rolling starts in full manual mode from just under 10mph. Previously I would get a heap of wheelspin but with the PSS's on the rear it gave a very awkward noise of a small amount of tyre screech (sounded harsh) and then my car flew and took off.
Normally when I did these type of rolling starts I could get the rear of my car go sideways and create a huge amount of smoke from burning rubber.
I simply cannot believe how well these new Michelin PSS tyres work...they are truly amazing compared to the Continental's.

'12 e550 renntech ecu tune 530 hp 606 lb torque,02 s430
I know that hp and torque are factors in tires so with that being said I have a '12 e550 with renntech ecu upgrade and need to replace the mich mxm it came with, I know have 530 hp and 600 lb ft torque. Even giving it a slight kick from the start makes the back fishtail a bit. I'm thinking of doing the suspension next but what's the better tire pss or conti extreme conti Dw the higher hp and torque? I'm in southeast Texas ,Galveston so no concerns for extreme cold weather but the rain can be harsh when it comes to the rainy season.

PSS hands down. I go through about 4 sets a year. Wouldn't put anything else on the car.

Ya I ended up opting for the PSS. The 2015's come with the Conti's so that's why I was considering them under the assumption that they must be good tires if they were selected. PSS hooked up real nice when I went to the drag strip this summer, so I'm happy that I purchased another set. But now that it's winter I'm backing to drive the slowmobile C.
