Dampening control, does it really work??
Does anybody know if the 3 settings actually adjust the dampening of the air suspension or does it only effect the ride height? I drive on setting 2, but I've switched between all 3 and honestly can't tell the difference between them as far as actual dampening is concerned. I'm getting ready to installs my lowering links and if it does actually effect the dampening it will effect what setting I actually lower the car in.
If it does effect the dampening I'll set the links so that the car is at a height I want to drive with in setting 2, if it doesn't I'll set it at the height I want to drive on with it completely off and that will allow me to lower the car a bit more when parked in setting 2.
TIA!!

i can tell the difference..sometimes i forget i am in sport 2 and think why is this car riding so rough...then i look and see the lights on. I always change it to comfort when the wife is in the car...so it doesn't bounce around as much while she's playing candy crush. lol

Thanks biggking that's exactly what I was looking for. I'm can't really tell the difference between them but that probably because I haven't really driven much outside of #2. I guess I'll set the drive height for #2.
Does the car lower at 68mph or whatever speed it is, even in the number 2 setting with the already 15mm drop??

i can definitely feel the difference when toggling from comfort to sport. All my cars have been on coilovers so I'm constantly in sport mode to try and mimic the feeling

Here's everything you'd want to know about airmatic. My understanding that Sport I is the most versatile. If the road gets too bumpy, the suspension softens. If you're taking an aggressive turn, it stiffens.
Comfort stays soft regardless.
Sport II stays firm regardless.

A - Normal ride height up to 68 mph, then lowers (b) to -15mm
d - vehicle height will rise to normal height at 37 mph
C - Raised ride height (+20mm).a - lowers to -15mm if vehicle speed between 50 and 74 mph for 5 minutes
c - lowers to -15mm if vehicle speed greater than 74 mph
c - lowers to -15mm if vehicle speed greater than 74 mph

Mine is almost always in sport I, comfort does at times feels softer than I like in this car.
But in comparison to my S500's airmatic, comfort setting in the E55 feel like the sport settings of the S.

I can feel the difference. I wish comfort was even softer. This car is my first Mercedes, owned only BMW Ms in the last five years. I bought this car as I got tired of the harsh rides.
