Shocking fuel economy after routine maintenance
Since the car went back on the road a few days ago after some routine maintenance it has been drinking fuel like it's going out of fashion. Currently averaging 26 litres per hundred k's (9mpg)! I have noticed the exhaust maybe smelling a little rich.
It was off the road for 3 weeks while I waited for a replacement alternator to arrive. I also replaced the engine water pump, changed the oil/filter, the supercharger oil (again), did a coolant flush, new brake pads and gave the motor a thorough clean - nothing that should affect the fuel consumption. Had to cut and weld a new section into the exhaust after an altercation with a gutter but again that shouldn't have made any noticeable difference.
Anyway we're about to have a look but thought I might post here first in case anyone has any ideas?
