Bought a New/used 2005 E55 AMG!
But I think the motor blew within the first few hours.
Absolutely NO fault of my own. Just drove the damn thing.
The best part about it was that they (the used car lot) hadn't gotten an up to date inspection sticker.
So. I was able to turn in back in and ask for them to get it to pass emissions
They are still working on it, but I have very low hopes. I did LOVE the car. had MLB headers and Dual 3" stainless exhaust. Drove like a bat outta hell.. BUT>>>>>>>
I'm sad. Was almost there.

Miss fire codes P0301 P0308 and P0300. #1 and #8 cyl. along with random.
I'm still hoping it was just a couple clogged injectors, because fuel was pretty near Empty, but they changed the plugs and checked the coils.. that Did NOT fix it.
I'm thinking a couple cracked ring lands for 2 reasons:
There were some kind of computer wires coming from under the passenger foot well. I'm still a newb to these cars, so I'm not sure what system / software they go to. I'm thinking recently tuned and the owner tuned it according to the usual 90-100 deg F temps of Houston. The day I bought it was 45 deg. F. Most likely sent the car into a lean condition.
AND... The sales guy drove around the corner to get gas. He only put a 1/4 tank of gas in it, and I bet he put in 87 octane from some no name corner store..... STILL.. very frustrated with the outcome.

Well looks like they are holding the bag on that one. If it doesn't pass inspection I would think they have to return your money. They likely have to have it inspected before the sale and just didn't get it done this time. Maybe you got really lucky and now don't have to fork over 10-15k for a new motor just to make it work again. You should find plenty of good examples to buy though

It looks nice!
Although, I'm after a 2005 or 2006.

Yes sir. The only recourse. The law states - in most states - that a dealer must supply a vehicle that passes emissions. So... If the motor is toast, it certainly won't pass. They will be doing a compression test on Monday. I'm leaving for California tomorrow. Thanksgiving time. I'll be back the week after. More bad timing there.

If I only had a few more days available, I would have dyno'd it and checked the AFR's. I probably would have caught a lean condition very quickly and had it retuned to my specs. It would have been that simple.
They now think its a blown headgasket and, of course, insinuated that I was hard on it and broke it. LOL.. I didnt get a CHANCE to be hard on it. I drove it to work. - happy and followed the speed limit. I got on the freeway with some spirit, but it didn't downshift to show me the real power. Got to work.... did nothing. I gave my boss a ride.. Drove 1/4 mile one way, and 1/4 mile back...Seemed to drive great. pulled in to driveway at work... check engine light and ****ty idle.. THAT's it.. So crumby.. I got practically NO time in the car.. Same day as bought. 2nd start up of the day... So frustrating. Everyone is closed most of this week and much of nothing has happened since. The owner of the business was the one that called me last and was somewhat politely pointing the finger. I made him aware of the inspection sticker, as he was unaware of that situation, and he explained that he would have his best mechanic look at it on Monday. Not sure if I want it even if they fix it.

You can't drive it too hard, its an automatic, its designed to be driven hard all day long. Its not like you can mis-shift or go past redline. No one buys an AMG to slowly drive to the shops and back. I would definitely look for another one.
