Heading to eurocharged

Should I have them do a custom tune or have the TCU done.

Only budgeting for either or on this trip.

You could also change your mind and get both, it wouldn't be a bad thing since they need the TCU to tune it. Some times when you are having fun its okay to spend a few extra dollars. In this case you will enjoy the combo, you are in good hands.

This place is a joke.
Custom tune. The TCU tune doesn't do much.

Definitely go with the T-Rex tune. It's got the most teeth.

I tried the Stego tune, but I got a power spike at the tail end, and the Bronto tune just made the car feel heavy.

My preference is def the T. rex tune...but raptors are pretty sweet, and like I'll be in toronto maybe that makes sense.

Unanimous decision. The custom tune def helps. I did comparison runs with a forum buddy with both of us having identical mods without headers, I would pull every time about a good 1.5 car in a 35-130.

What are the differences in tune files, custom and dyno tune? And which one is the most recommended?

Let's say you're shopping for a suit.

You can either can a "regular" off the rack suit that fits your pretty decently == Normal Canned tune which is suitable for the average engine/mod combo.

You can get a "tailored" suit that gets fitted specifically do the subtle differences in your specific body shape, and size to adjust the cuff length, pull the sides in, etc == "custom tune" for your specific engine.

And like a suit for alterations, with a custom tune you could choose to:

Take your own measurements and send them to the tailor when you ship him the suit == datalogging and sending to the tuner to "customize" the tune for you.

Or, like you would go into a store and get measured and tailored on the spot == you could have your tuner make the necessary modifications while on the dyno in real time.

.....can you tell I'm suit shopping?! haha
