Looking to join Mercedes
I am currently looking at this vehicle:
http://www.1stopautomall.com/2004_Me...257003421.veh#
and I currently own this vehicle:
https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/5164626258.html
I have never owned a Mercedes, but was considering trading honestly to lessen or eliminate my payment as I have equity in the Mustang.
Would the maintenance costs be considerably more since this is a luxury car? I don't speed, but I am looking to go when I need too so this car fits that bill. How is the handling on an E55 AMG compared to a muscle car? Again not looking to track the car, but when I point the car I want it to go there. Is the E55 AMG reliable as this one has 95k miles? I just wonder what things I need to consider when owning a luxury car vs. a muscle car? My car is modded as well and you can see the mods in the link provided.
In your opinion is this a good trade to lessen a car payment by 65%, but add 50k more miles and get a luxury beast?
Lastly the price, I looked on edmunds and added every option and it stated this car is worth approximately 12,500 private party.

So you want to go from a 2 year old ford to a 12 year old Mercedes to save money? I love these cars and I believe Mercedes builds the best cars overall but it is still a 12 year old $80,000 car your buying for $15,000. Yes it will need repairs/maintenance and yes it will be expensive.

Well your buying a great car. Things to consider. Do you want a 4 door? Is quality important? The e55 is a lot nicer than new American muscle. The dash seats etc is just better. Personally I don't think any of the new muscle cars are much better than an ls1 was 15 years ago.
This is a nice car. It's rare it's fast it's nice it's sexy and it has a ton of potential when modded.
I do not regret the switch and my ls1 ran high 12's and was paid off.
I wanted something more and this car actually scared me on the highway.
When you do a test drive go wot at 75mph. You will be hooked

Just because it's 12 years old won't change the fact that you need to buy parts for what was a $80-$100,000 car with a handbuilt low volume supercharged engine. Repairs aren't in the $100 denominations they are in the $1000 denominations

Thank you all for replies. I will go take a look at the vehicle today and see what I think. One think that helps me is that I only drive about 500 miles a month.
What does not help me is that I bought a V8 with over 400 hp and now I am hooked and cannot go back to a V6. Some people love clothes, gambling, etc, my love is cars. Unfortunately cars can be an expensive hobby.
