Question Advised on a 2003 E55

Ill get straight to the point, there a E55 Amg 2003 that is for sale(kinda) that had the engine go bad ( im not sure for the exact word for it in english but where i live they said "se fundio" ) and said that he put a e55 motor from the previous year and the car runs good (no warning lights) and everything.

Now, the only reasons I'm interested in this exact car is because.

1. its a person that doesn't drive as much anymore and i told him ill buy it off him (at first as a joke, because i was telling him how much i would love an AMG) and he said yeah and would even leave it at a really low price (In my country its hard to sell these cars because of keeping up with maintenance and gas consumption)

2. I want an AMG really bad and i feel like starting off with this one and later (if i still want an amg as bad) move up to newer model.

Now to the questions.

If i were to get an original motor for that car (03 e55 engine) ($1,500-5,000) and want to install it, would it be worth it in the sense of me trying to achieve to put the car to its "best" original state?

And if it is possible, would buying a newer motor (2004-2009) be possible also without to much modifications or none? (thinking about extra sensors or different plugs on newer ones)

or maybe just maybe keep the car as is and just put it up to date with the maintenance?

also the car interior and exterior great condition.

A little bit of background (if it helps):

I have wanted for a (long) while an amg, i do got the time and money (even that said i dont want to end up spending as much money a e55 in good condition would cost).

I have done plenty of work on my Mercedes but i also have a friend who is certified mercedes benz mechanic and also worked at the mercedes benz but now has opened his own shop and has the DAS star computers and everything he works exclusive with mercedes and will be helping me.

I have a second car so its not like ill be depending on this car to get around so i dont mind waiting on getting the car how i would like it (original motor).

If anymore info is needed just let me know and if something wasn't understood let me know also so i can explain better.

Hope someone is able to help this website has come threw so many times and i really want an AMG but dont want to jump into something and making a horrible mistake.

TL;DR 2003 E55 for sale with a different amg motor in it (really low price), want to know if its worth it!?

Are you saying it is an 03' E55K with an 02 E55 NA motor in it? no supercharger?

you can put I believe any E55K 03-06 in it, '07 went to the 6.2L NA E63

They just told me its from the previous year of the vehicle, is there a way i can figure it out?

so would it be better if i find a newer e55k or maybe if I'm able to find out the type of motor it is and it is a "02 e55k" would it be best to leave it as is?

Take some pictures. I'd be surprised if it was a 02 motor since it is not a direct fit. If it has a supercharger leave it. Sometimes cars are a year earlier in other countries, that might explain it.
