The new 2016 W213 E Class
Some information is starting to be released about the new 2016 W213 E Class including a few videos and pics. Following are some screen shots from the latest videos displaying the new interior (which is very reminiscent of the S Class) and also show some of the cool new features.
The car can be driven with the high beams always left on with the system using an array of 84 LED's which can be controlled individually. A camera monitors incoming traffic and indicates which areas require masking while all other LED's remain on. Also there is a Remote Parking Pilot which enables the driver to get out the vehicle prior to parking or have vehicle start and exit it's garage or parking spot into a more convenient location for the driver to board. This is all controlled from a smart phone app. Safety features include new seat belts which have airbags inside and seats that inflate rapidly from the outside edge and push the occupant towards the center of the car in the event of an accident.

Base Spec Option
Apart from the dual digital display dashboard as shown above there is also a base spec dashboard which includes analogue gauges - not that it would be a concern for an AMG owner.
Don't know why they bothered actually - I would have thought dual digital would have been less expensive? Weird.
Really? I was thinking it's finally gonna look good again now that they got rid of that awkward side body line that made the 2010+ E and CLS so unappealing to me.

That rear looks horrible; like melting wax. I hate that they have applied that design language across the entire model line.

I agree somewhat - that rear in its current guise looks awkward and cheap, but I imagine when the production model hits the streets it will have migrated into something far more aesthetically pleasing.
The current C Class has a beautifully balanced curvaceous body which in my opinion the designers got spot on. The flagship S Class is also a design triumph, and from what I can see so far I believe the new E Class will be an amalgamation of the best of both bodies.
It does look "blended" we could say but the other rear was definitely looking dated so change was due. Maybe I think it looks good due to its resemblance to the 14+ S-class which I really love yet am not old enough to drive or afford (the AMG) or maybe it's the way the tail lights look at night but to me the rear is as much an improvement as the rest.
All good though, the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same stuff!

Well how about you get off this forum then and go look elsewhere for info instead of writing **** antagonistic crap here! How ****ing childish "**** in sore ***".
If you must know it took me freaking ages to capture a collection of specific screenshots from within brand new Youtube videos. So these are fresh pictures that can be found nowhere else on the internet apart from here in this forum. Google was not consulted in any way shape or form so I don't know where you get off saying that! I did ths to share information on an upcoming vehicle - actually THE upcoming car which is of most interest and relevance to members of this forum. Get it!?!

This pic describes you best,
by the way I googled "interior design of the future e class" found your pics with video.
Cocksaurus, if I haven't ever seen a more fitting name. What is the point in 90% of the threads here then if a simple google search will reveal the same info? Why have a community at all. Go ride a dick you weiner.

I like the info you posted, Probs going to trade in my 2014 next year for this new one, outside may not look they great but who cares when you can have an S class interior for WAYYYY cheaper
I love how the interior looks way more simplistic, yet dramatically more space ship, than the rather busy w212 interior (way too many buttons and clutter).

As for electric cars, Mercedes is planning an entire range all built on their new platform called Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA). The ELC, which is a soft-roader will be the first available and looks like it will be available in showrooms by 2019 after debuting at 2018 motor shows.
Interestingly, Mercedes has confirmed the w213 will become the first-ever regular-production E-Class with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
