New coil overs?

Straight to the point. Airmatic went out and I need a new suspension. Any ideas?

I went with Arnott...probably should've gone with BC or Strutmaster. I'm not very fond of the ride and they have zero adjustment. Hindsight.

B C for me but after a few months I upped the front springs to 1,000lb for flatter turns and less nose dive under braking. It really changde the handling of the car from the stock front springs the kits come with.

Gary did you do this yourself. I'm leaning towards BC. Kits are 950 from what I have seen.

strutmaster has eibach springs on their coil overs if that makes a difference - not adjustable but name brand components - not sure where they fit in in the quality pecking order but they have been around a long time

I have always found adjustable coilovers to eventually squeak. Didn't know about the strutmasters option - are springs for a stock height ride?

Yes very easy to do!! The harder part is the rears only because the lower control arm gets changed.

Strutmasters are designed for stock ride height, but I think they can be adjusted because they made some adjustments to mine when "after market" taiwanese control arms lowered the car's stance.

Call 'em up and ask.

Are you guys cars really stiff with the coil overs? I was going to do them when I get an airmatic failure, but I want the car to still drive nice.

Mine feel the same. A few mechanics have told me they were surprised when they got the car in the shop and discovered the coilovers because they didn't notice anything different while driving the car.

However when you want to do some hard cornering you can change them and it completely changes the car

E55 and several 928s
Bilstein also makes shocks and you can source springs and put together your own system.
